I knew a guy who was a salesman for a Swiss motor company. He tried to sell Linn a better motor, but when Tiffenprofit learned that it would be 50p more than the one he used, he said no.

If you close the lid with the motor running and then put your to the lid you can hear the noise from the motor which in turn travels back up the tone arm cable and interferes with the sound quality..

Indeed the lid acts as a loudspeaker!

Can the inner platter surface that contacts the belt be cleaned with Brasso or is there a lacquer finish that would get damaged. The Brasso worked wonders on my pulley which I thought was kept clean with isopropyl alcohol. The music sounds very noticeable better after the cleaning with Brasso where I went through several Q-tips before the black went away.

I'd leave it alone, the extra traction will probably help! Sorry for the delay.

To make the music even better, only do this at full moon, ideally at high tide. Amazing difference. Ignore those that say you should only face North whilst doing this- that is silly!

What is the anodised coating you put on the platter then ? So I can reapply it in any service. Would acetone remove it or is it okay? what about using talcum powder on the belt?@@TheHiFiMechanik

What grease do you use for the thrust pad ?

Just vehicle wheel bearing grease, something that is quite thick.
