I am 75 years old. After researching, I picked LMDE 6. I'll have to watch again when I am not getting distracted. Health issues have slowed me down in recent years. I installed LMDE 6 on a computer I purchased at a garage sale. $20 Dell with Windoze 10 installed. I replaced Windoze 10 with LMDE 6. It is working well. I just need to learn where everything is and the best way to do things. I retired from a university in IT. I had to support Windoze. I enjoyed supporting Macs. Our church is considering get away from MS and going Linux. I also need to improve my abilities with LibreOffice. My wife is using LibreOffice to publish our church's bulletin. I am anxious to learn the draw unit to design floor plans.
I came across your channel because I installed LMDE 6 over the Thanksgiving weekend… Then I noticed the name of your channel. 😊 At 60 myself I am happy to see there is a community of ‘life experienced’ nerds out here in the ether.
Thanks for the review. I've used many distro over the years, and I've been using LMDE since V2. Its user friendly and quite stable, I did have some crashes occasionally with Cinnamon and installation Applets, but I still love to use it and decided to stick with it.
Excited to try LMDE 6 because Debian 12 looked very promising but without the polish of Mint. For example with Debian 12 XFCE I had to enter my user name each time it booted up. Sure that is probably something that could be fixed but..

Came here because i want to replace my Linux Mint edition with LMDE 6, and am hoping you will do some more in depth reviews regarding how you find the pros and cons between the two. Keep up the great work, Linux Mint is the number 1 OS that i use. Do you have any suggestions for a 4k video editor that will do real time video scrubbing like iMovie or LumaFusion do on iOS ?

First if we are speaking about Linux Mint , they have two branches of the Cinnamon desktop, 21.2 & LMDE , latest version is LMDE 6 and 21.2. The 21.2 is based on Linux Mint and Ubuntu , the LMDE 6 is based on Linux Mint & Debian. The Linux Kernel you can change on 21.2 but not on LMDE 6 , just some examples. Regards, t
in my case, i dumped cinnamon outright in favor of xfce4 with my LMDE setup. because the windows are so stuttery even at 144hz. im on an nvidia rtx 3070 mobile gpu on an intel i5 cpu and i couldn't be happier running in xfce4 with a buttery smooth window-rendering.
Sometimes hardware can dictate which desktop to use or favor, I have stated many times some prefer Xfce lightweight desktop, not only for the feel of the desktop but how it runs. At least we have a Linux choice, glad things worked out for you. Regards, t

Old machine ? Duel - Multi boot , or virtual box ? I did a fresh on a SDD with older distribution, but used Gparted to clean the drive prior. Hopefully some of this was helpful. Regards, t
