Omg. I just bought it crocheted some rows not with a big hook.. here I was thinking I can't use this unless I double it up. 🤣 making the tiniest crochet stitches and I'm like nope this wpikd take me years... but now I have ideas.. thank you for sharing. I love love this yard except for the splitting. But it's worth it.. hugs

Yay! So glad it was helpful! I recently picked up some more Coboo myself. Makes such lovely scarves, shawls & garments. Works well doubled up too, with contrasting colors for a marled effect. 😀

I want to try the coboo. I do love stitch definition. I think that yarn would be perfect for the Spring Fling or the Jackfield Tile square afghan. Stitch definition makes or breaks those. I may have to try one.

I'll have to check out those patterns, thanks! The Coboo is so soft and pretty; but takes more time and patience for sure!

That was very helpful, Helene. I couldn’t resist buying some on clearance at WallyWorld a few months back. Seems a bit intimidating to work with, but your review gave me the knowledge I’ll need when I do get around to making something with it. Looking forward to the big reveal when you finish your project 🧶🧶🧶

Love the blue . Is the splitting like Caron Simply Soft ? Thanks for the review , haven't used it before.

It splits even more-so in a way, due to the slipperiness. But I like the natural fibers of Coboo's blend and dealt with it for the end result!

I think that's a good idea, for when you're more comfortable with slippery and finicky type of yarns. If you go a little slower, watch your stitches, with patience being the key word, you should be okay!

Thank you for the review Helene, I have heard that Lion Brand Truboo splits also, I don't know if they're similar yarns though. The denim top is very pretty, can't wait to see it finished.

Hi Cheryl, I did a review and demo on Truboo a couple months ago. I had less splitting issues with it; but is very slippery. The type of hook can make a big difference, too. Here's the link if you haven't already seen it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RsoSLDqLnI0.html

Not to say the Truboo doesn't split and catch easily; but for that particular project it flowed pretty well for me. I made the, Let Your Light Shine scarf, right after that review.

Thanks for the review of Coboo yarn. It looks like it crochet's up a beautiful garment. I would probably try a smaller project, maybe a scarf and see how I like the yarn. Maybe you said this in your review but I didn't hear it, when you run out and need another ball do you tie two ends together? Thanks❤️
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 4 года назад
Yes, that is what I do...tie the two ends together, with a little longer tail for sewing in; so that it stays put! Is holding very well I think due to the cotton content, helps give it that extra "bite".

I have the exact same complaints/praises with the Truboo yarn as well. Although it frustrates me because I work 2 jobs and have a lot of projects to finish and not a lot of time, the end result is beautiful!

I had less splitting with the Truboo; but found can still catch easily. Definitely takes more time working both yarns and understand your frustration.

The universe keeps sending me your way. ☺️ I was looking up reviews for this yarn (because I just ordered a kit from LB to join in a cardigan CAL). I’m really excited to feel the yarn it looks like it has a lovely drape. Thanks for the tips on which hooks might work best. Pointy heads are a no go. Got it. 👍🏽

That is so cool! Glad my channel is starting to pop up more, too! I really like this yarn, the coolness, weight and luscious drape. It is splitty and sometimes annoying; but the result is so lovely that it's worth slowing down to create. Not sure if I mentioned this also; but no wooden or overly sharp hooks either!!

I am saving some of this yarn for a special project because i know it will take a lot of work to accommodate the bamboo.
@cabinfevercrochet

I have about 6 cakes of the Lichen color that I showed, and also saving for a special project, for the same reason!! After the tank dress, I made in the denim color, I didn’t think I’d want to work with it again; but it’s so pretty and soft. Thought I’d give it another go. Definitely works better with a hook that’s very smooth, and isn’t too pointy or sharp. Like my Furls Odyssey. Hope you’re having a great day! 🤗

Have you knitted with this yarn? If so, is it better, worse or about the same? Thanks!
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 4 года назад
I casted on, worked a few stitches and for me the splitting was way worse! That's when I decided to crochet something with it instead! Also much easier to pull out and redo any mistakes, with this yarn especially, the way it easily tangles and snags.

@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 4 года назад
@@jsb4850 You're very welcome. Just keep in mind, I've only begun re-learning to knit; so my technique isn't all that fluid yet. But with crochet, it's easier to keep the working end more taught, which helps keep the strands together. Hope that helps and really only one way to find out!

I see. I’m a continental knitter. I always hold my working yarn in my left hand whether I’m knitting or crocheting. That might help if I try to knit with this yarn.

@@jsb4850 It may very well make a difference. I'd love to know if you try it & how it works up for you. I do think it's rather temperamental yarn in general; but it's just so lovely and the result is beautiful.

Thank you for this review. I was thinking of getting a cardigan kit with this yarn on lion brand but I am having second thoughts. I am currently crocheting a shawl with Truboo and it has the same splitty features. Do you think Hobby Lobby I Love this Cotton would work for a cardigan? It is very soft and very nice to crochet with.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet Год назад
The Coboo makes a lovely finished garment; but in addition to splitting and catching while working with it, the fabric snags easily, too. I still love the feel and drape. It’s not as slippery as Truboo; because of the cotton content, which also gives more control while crocheting. I agree, HL’s I Love This Cotton is lovely to work with, and it does make nice garments. I’ve made large shawls and they’ve held up really well. Larger projects will be heavier and more prone to stretching; since it is 100% cotton. Hope that helps. 💗

@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet Год назад
It can be very frustrating to work with. Since I posted this video, I’ve learned that by sliding a bead on the yarn, before starting the project, helps to keep the strands together. And a metal hook is less likely to catch. I probably won’t buy again, once I’ve used up mine. Even though the colors and finished projects are beautiful. Good luck with yours. 💕

It seems like it would be a very slippery yarn, that the knot wouldn't hold.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 4 года назад
I was thinking that myself; but I just cut a little longer tail than usual and sew it in back & forth a few times and it holds nice and securely.
