Lion Feeding at the Denver Zoo 

This type of training is necessary to assess the animal's health. Get a look at him without having to drug him to give him a check up people.... They're not gonna whip him or shoot him if he doesn't perform. He has a bigger enclosure, this is an examination/isolation room. Calm down.

Lions are scary smart.

This is not really horrible. The lion is usually free to go in and out of the enclosure and has his own outdoor habitat. The lion isn't starving to death and looks to be very well fed. As for cruelty, is it cruel to give a dog something good when it does something good? The lady is not harming the lion. She is trying to stimulate it and probably uses these training sessions in shows to increase awareness of lions in the wild as an act of conservation.

Well, given that I pay taxes in California and am a paying member of the San Diego Zoological Society, I'd like to think I have done at least some minuscule part in saving various species from extinction.

How is this suffering? This animal willingly came inside in order to be given his favorite thing... FOOD. These zookeepers are treating this animal very well, and obviously respect their animals.

I know, I was pointing out that we treat animals as either something to be owned and controlled or destroyed because we fear them without thinking or considering the consequences of our actions. I know some don't do or consider ownership, control, or destruction, I am just pointing out that is what the majority of the human race does when faced with something that they don't have control or power over.

First off, this isn't its enclosure, it has a much larger outdoor space. Second, she's not abusing it or teaching it tricks, she's training is so medical evaluations are easier/safer. Half of these fucking comments are complaining that he's being abused, he's getting treats for doing simple tasks!

I agree, Lions and other wild animals should stay where they belong, not be removed and placed somewhere else just for humans to populate the area. There are plenty of abandoned places that humans can populate but instead we go for another creatures home, destroy it and build on it only to abandon it in a few decades/centuries time.

We do the same thing to our pets. We give them treats to do tricks for us except we don't have a cage-like fence with a feeding dispenser between the trainer and the pet. Humans have been doing stuff like this for thousands of years. Tell me what makes you think is so horrible about this video?

This Lion and the new cubs at the Denver Zoo are in one of the best Lion exhibits in the world. iGlee4U and 74383838 are idiots. They only wish they were taken care of as well as these lions are.

By nature, a territorial lion should not be in that confined space in the first place. The animal would be under enormous stress when imprisoned in a cage. This is clearly animal abuse.

im a little disturbed by this. i understand captivating animals to prevent their extinction (99% caused by humans) but training them like house pets.... its one thing to drastically reduce their natural habitat to a cage, but to make them do moronic tricks?

wtf the lion is already hungry ,then why r u making him play also in dis video u r not at all giving enough food to him ,it is not good to keep a lion in that liitle confined space ,u have to keep the lion outside in a big space if u want him to be in a prison

I hope one day the lion can break the gate and eat the feeder because it is a torture for the lion .
