Espero que siguán con sus buenos programas de reintroducción del león en Zambia, que empezó en el 2003 aprox, y este video de reeducación de nuestra especia a la sensibilidad con los leones me parece correcto, felicidades.
I was there 3 months after this video was recorded, so strange to see how quickly they change! Rufigi was/is especially cute it seems, harder to spot Rwanda as well ^^
I know this has been a year but I just want to say you're right. I actually participated in their program and never more have I felt so sorry for doing it. Starting from the fact that it's ridiculous to think lions will go extinct seeing how immensly popular they are, they're one of the big 5, ofcourse they'll never go extinct. But yes, add on the fact that they have been doing this for quite some time and haven't released a single lion yet. I am so dissapointed.
Before you all get your knickers in a twist, I suggest you go and check your facts on their website. This is a relatively young charity, and they're still 2-3 years away from releasing lions into the wild (and that's actual wild, not the semi-wild the first generation are in now) as part of their controlled programme. And the lion population has declined 80% in the last 30 years. If you don't think they can go extinct, then you're a fool.
Those statistics are shabby and you know it. I was there when he presented them, every single one was 'and they think' 'it was generally assumed'. His statistics are all based on the fact that hundreds of years ago there used to be a gazillion lions. Lions are nowhere near going extinct. Popularity is what keeps a species alive nowadays. Good luck finding an animal more popular than the lion.
