@@JLCmike4014 well 838 I can understand since it's more or less a parts donor, but 5511 should have been for a long time. Supposedly it's going to be moved somewhere for display soon.
Yeah i hear u, just sucks to see the 838 slowly decay away to nothing. She actually went there under her own power when she was sent to cheyenne so she couldn’t have been in bad shape. 5511 won’t run due to the fact of the small tender and the weird young valve gear arrangement. It’d be cool to see it run cuz it’s an oddball engine with a valve gear u don’t see. But i guess to actually be part of the steam fleet then the engine has to actually be in steam.
Great review! I have the KATY boxar....... When I unboxed it, one truck was not attached to the frame. Also it is numbered 1998 instead of 1988. The lights aren’t that bright. Oh well
this car is pretty neat although i'm still wondering why up doesn't use the box car as the tool car anymore (they used it with the 844 and the 3985 on many of their trips in the past but not anymore)
The last time I ever heard anything about that car it was involved in a wreck. The hand brakes were not set properly and it rolled down a hill and either derailed or hit another freight car of some sort. So as a result it may have been damaged beyond repair or at least for the foreseeable future. But this was a long time ago this happened so I'm not sure what became of the car after that.
MTH made a railking version of the 9336 steam fleet boxcar years ago. It’s a pain to find but was lucky enough to find one a few years ago. Wish they’d make a scale one.
@@ravenhawk6910 thanks for the link of the article like you said it was probably deemed beyond repair (it's a real shame don't know if they would think about getting a new box car or just not bother with another one)
