sounds like Lionel Loueke is gravitating towards Scofiled, guitar-tone-wise. Loving that, he just seems capable to organically integrate all derivates of afroamerican music into his style which still retains his personal, unique vibe. Killer.
To Russell Lane, that's kind of his style. He feels the pocket, but he kind of moves in and out of it in a way that seems sporadic, but after watching a lot, I've found the guy is in complete control of everything he does, and I dig that a lot.
Hi, does anyone kno what the name of the drum beat. I have been trying to figure it out since ive seen harland and chris dave doing the same thing. Sound kind a variation of calypso or soca but it might come from something else. thx.
this is pretty cool, but as my first exposure to giuliana, i have to say i'm a little disappointed. the ideas are cool but i'm not feeling a solid pocket. his thing feels very herky-jerky to me. compare, for instance, to tony allen, a guy who giuliana seems to be drawing from. just my two cents.
