That was done without his knowledge. Usually session players would want to do a run through to figure out the part, but the producer had the wherewithal to hit the record button and capture luke's instinct as a guitar player. True magic right there!

This song was only present in the first Retail release of the PS2 Version. Not all will remember it. It was cut on the Patched PS2 Release, XBOX, PC and Mobile Versions. And Definitive Edition by the way
Good music died beginning of the early 2000’s I’m glad to be born in the 80’s and glad to have enjoyed those era music as well. Wish technology invented a Time Machine to go back in time.
When my son was in the 8th grade his music teacher had a concert every one had to dress 80s style and sing 80s song I spent 4 hr making my son a official 1980s punk bluejean jacket there where painted 80s punk stuff on the back buttons on front an 130 safety pins on it he had on black and red checkrd paints suspenders finger less glove and spiked bracelet on one hand combat boots it was awesome.
THE underrated guitar solo of all time, because it wasn't intended that way. He was just warming up to the song when the producer stopped him and said that it's done.
At my job, the in store music defaults to the modern style channel. Even my younger co-workers hate it and beg me to change it to the 80's station lol.

@d-funksteryea5188 yeah I remember noticing him in BEAT IT video too, and I thought Pat Benatar video, LOVE IS A BATTLE FIELD but he just choreographed that one, but, after looking him up, I had no idea he did so much in such a short time of life... Truly Legendary...
God I miss the 80's, the music was fantastic, the lyrics were perfectly written, the videos were worth watching, and Lionel was god level thumping out instant classics like this song. Decades later it's still better than 99.9% of the garbage in the charts these days.

I'm sure someone's already mentioned this, but I just wanted us all to take a moment to realise just how good Steve Lukather was/is on this track. He played it in one take. He was just warming up. After he'd heard the track he said "right, I'm ready now". The producer said "no, I've got what I want. That's the take we're going to use". Bloody hell 🙂
I see the guy that choreograph Michael jackson's Beat makes a cameo in this video. I'm willing to bet that he did the choreography for this video, too. I believe that guy died of AIDS.
Wow! I remember when this MTV video came out! I miss the 80’s music and watching the videos with it! Most were really good and like this one it looked very fun to be a part of!! Great music and talent back then! 💕💕💕

In your comment you mentioned that the choreographer Michael Peters the second to none and you feel like he should have received more recognition for this particular video that he worked on or with would that be correct sir. Well all I know is that if this is a gentleman that worked on this particular video he did a fantastic job and we all know that Mr Richie is not going to have someone working with him if it's not right you know that too right smile.
