This is very informative! Thanks for the upload! When do you think is okay to start massaging lips after treatment? Should I massage them myself or wait a week and have my doctor do it?
Hi K C over 9000, You're welcome! I'm glad the video helped you! As explained in the video, normal movement like talking, smiling, etc. can help filler integrate into the tissue, and massage should be initiated or guided by the doctor who performed the procedure. I hope this helps you.
I've been using filler in my lips for about 6 years. I massage my lips when I get home then touch up in 2-3 weeks. I've used juvederm, juvederm ultra plus, restalyn (sp?) silk and just 2 weeks ago my practitioner asked me to try restalyn refine. I absolutely love it. It's much more malleable immediately after placement and is not hard/firm like the others are (up to 2-3 week with the ultra plus). Do you use this product in your practice? If so, what's been the consensus with your patients? Thank you.
Hi Laura Gwillim, My general preference for the lips is from the Restylane family since it is a softer filler. Other doctors may also use the softer fillers from the Juvederm family which is fine as doctors do have their own preferences. What my patients also like is use blunt cannulas for filler placement, and a technique to reduce the number of entry points n the lips, which reduce bruising and lumps. The brand of filler is really not as important as the doctor's skill and experience using them, which are the most important aspects of lip enhancement.
So if you want filler dissolved, should you wait two weeks from the day you had them done? Or can it be done sooner? Can I have it dissolved in one week?
Hi Being Christina, I would advise waiting at least two weeks before dissolving the filler because you want the filler material to settle first, and also you want temporary swelling to resolve as it can distort results initially. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you for your video! I had lip filler & botox in my upper lip for the first time ever on November 20. The person injecting me is a nurse practitioner who has been doing injectables for over 10 years at a very reputable clinic. I went back to see her for follow-up on December 7 (2.5 weeks later). I was not happy with my lip as my right side is noticeably (to me) different than the left side: the left side seems nice and round but the right side seems to dip in/under along the side of my lip, and the cupid's bow is higher on that side. Also, I have very pronounced creases at the corners of my upper lips, from the corners of my mouth upwards. I don't see other women who have had lip fillers with these creases so I'm not sure why I have them. She told me it was normal and the creases are where the filler stops. Is that true? When I asked her about the unevenness, she simply stated that my lips were uneven to begin with (but aren't fillers supposed to correct that??) and that she could dissolve the fillers if I wanted. I said I did not want to dissolve the fillers, I wanted to have them evened out. She put in more filler on my right side but, 3 weeks later, it has not fixed the problem. I go back to see her on December 29 (3 weeks + 1 day from follow-up appointment). I am not happy with the outcome as it currently is. I sent her photos on December 21st and her response was, "I'm not sure what else I can do to make the lips a bit more even." My upper lip wasn't greatly uneven to begin with... it was just thin compared to my full bottom lip. The injections she gave me haven't made a vast difference; it's very subtle and just a little bit plumper than before. She comes highly recommended and people come from all over to see her, so I'm not necessarily doubting her skill, I just want to get a good result and what I paid for. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you in advance.
Hi DeeJay Zee, Sorry to hear that. I suggest you get a second opinion from a doctor who can examine your lips, if you're not happy with her work, or her response. Keep in mind that they may end up dissolving the filler, like she suggested, and starting all over again to ensure the best possible results they can give you. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you for your reply! My apologies for not thanking you sooner; I only just came across your response today. So, in the 4 months since I initially wrote to you, the problem with the cupid's bow and right side of my upper lip still remains, but the deep lines at the corners of my mouth have gone away, so that's good at least. The appointment I had with the nurse practitioner for Dec 29 was cancelled by her clinic, and the next several appointments I set up were also cancelled by the clinic. Frustrating! But I did finally get in to see her on March 21 and she is going to do a touchup on my lips on April 6 to even them out. I'm crossing my fingers that will be the case! She's also going to work on my tear troughs. She put a full syringe of filler in that area, but in only 4 months the filler seems to have dissolved or something because the problem is back, only the depressions are slightly higher up than my initial tear trough area. I thought it was supposed to last for a year to 18 months?? Initially, back in November 2021, the nurse used Teosyal Redensity II in my tear trough area, and Juvederm Voluma in my lips. This time, she plans to use Teosyal RHA2 in my tear trough as well as a bit of it in my lip to fix the problem. If you have a moment, what would your advice be?
Hi@@deejayzee2233, Would have to examine your lips, as well as your tear trough myself to give you the advice you're looking for. I'm not aware of how your nurse performed the treatment, and it's the technique and artistry that determine results, not the brand of filler. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I live in Canada so I don't think seeing you would be possible. But I will be looking into getting another opinion about my situation. If you know of any doctors in the Toronto area you can recommend, please let me know. Thank you again.
Hi@@deejayzee2233, Toronto is very close to us. Canada is where we get a lot of international patients from, especially since many, especially those in Toronto, would not need take a flight. I'm not aware of the aesthetic styles, or techniques used by doctors in Toronto. I hope this helps you.

Hi Dayanne Chacon, Thank you for watching! Getting your lips massaged at the time, or after lip filler treatment is not a requirement, and depends on the doctor performing the treatment. I don't find it necessary to massage the lips when filler is placed precisely. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I realise there is a big blood vessel in the lower lip. So what happens if filler gets in there? Will it potentially travel to the eye and cause major issue? Do you use dental block for your patients with lip filler? Or just topical numbing? Thank you.
Hi, The complication of injecting filler into a blood vessel is called vascular occlusion, which is described in this other video you commented on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GO1taD9mtKs.html
Hi Moon Mun, Juvederm is a sub-brand of Allergan. However, the brand of filler does not matter as much as the technique of placing filler, which is explained in this more recent video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WHRHPUlj3zU.html
Hi Doctor I hope you’re doing well, I had fillers done a week ago she combined it with Botox to flip them up , the lip on the left side still numb and cold is that normal? I have tried to contacted her but she has blocked me which makes me suspect her professionalism should I be worried? The colour looks normal but I just feel it numb I don’t know what to do please could you help me ? Blessings from England
Hi Salmah Walwyn, Sorry to hear about your problem, but numbness is not normal after Botox or lip fillers. If you can't contact your doctor, you need to see another doctor who can examine your lips and determine a cause. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD I really appreciate your response, I went to the hospital as the numbness spread out onto my cheek and at the beginning we thought it was a stroke but they said it was allergy to the filler they have prescribed for me a medication for allergy but seems like I have to get disolve the product as the numbness doesn’t disappear, thanks very much again ❤️
Hi! So I have a question and I’m a little confused I got juvederm lips Friday after noon and I’ve notice I have one little bump on my right side as well I was told by friends that I shouldn’t massage lips until a week from app. What do you recommend? Is that to far away? Or should I start to massage (I’m a little scared it will move the filler)? Thank you!
Hi Giselle Anaya, The best person to ask about this is your doctor who performed the procedure as I have not seen your lips, and I don't know the details of how your treatment was done. I hope this helps you.
Hi Charlene H, The initial swelling of lip filler may have hidden the bump at first, and the bump may be due to the entry point of the injection. You can ask the doctor who did your treatment about it, but I have also made some videos about bumps after lip fillers that may guide you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JZQzWQ4XRjc.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-loM7XRc4S_Y.html

Do u know anyone in India.... Mumbai?.....who is best to do this.....as I wanted for myself but I am afraid of any side effects or getting into wrong hands....plz help...thanx
Hi priyanka minhas, Sorry, but I'm not familiar with doctors in Mumbai. I suggest you look at prospective doctors' before and after pictures. I hope this helps you.
Hi Keke1980s, I believe Revolax is only available in Europe, and it is a hyaluronic acid filler. I only use hyaluronic acid fillers in my practice as they are reversible, safe to use, and results are predictable. It's important to remember that the brand of filler doesn't determine results, but the experience and style of the practitioner do. I hope this clarifies things for you.

So I think Ive been doing it in a wrong way since everyone seem to say that straight after when you do it you should massage a lot but as you say I should wait some days before do it in order to not let the products 'dissolve' too fast,am I right? Even tho I feel like some 'bumps' in the lips the day after I do it I should wait some days before start massaging them? Im kinda confused and tomorrow morning I'm going to do filler 🤔 Thank you for this video and greetings from Italy!
Hi Gia Esposìto, You shouldn't have to worry about massaging the filler in your lips as massage will not cause the filler to break down faster. Hyaluronic acid fillers are safely broken down by the body with time, not by massage. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I just used the Thesera pen for my lip augmentation. I used hyafilia classic and .01 on top 02 on my bottom and I look like a sausage! Is it normal to be this swollen? Omg they don’t look good af all they are very hot to the touch also I’m so nervous I hope it goes down by morning. What should I do??
Hi Kel Ninja, Sorry to hear about your problem. I suggest you see a doctor as soon as you can to have this treated. Doing these procedures on your own without medical training can lead to complications that you also can't treat on your own. I hope this helps you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thank you so Much for responding. I don’t know what happened and why my lips reacted that way bc I’ve had lip injections in the past and it ever did that but anyways I called my regular aesthetic doctor and she called in an RX of prednisone and it worked wonders now they look great :)

I’ve had this done many times. It only last a few months, (if that). If you have an unlimited amount of cash, then go for it, but in my case, it looked great for about 3 months. Not enough for the cost. I do more with a lip liner and a good lipstick, and gloss with an expert application.
Hi Gia Ferrara DVM, Hyaluronic acid fillers for the lips should last about a year. Perhaps your injector isn't using enough filler material, and the improvement in volume you are seeing for only 3 months is prolonged swelling, which is more pronounced when injecting with needles instead of cannulas, and with more pokes with the needle than necessary. A change in technique and with the injector can have you seeing different, longer lasting results. I hope this helps you.
Hi Reema Alhafidh, Sorry to hear about your problem. It's my policy to see my patients in follow up two weeks after filler treatment to see how the material has settled, and also to see if a little more enhancement may be needed. If you have not yet followed up with your performing doctor, I suggest you make an appointment with them as they know the details of your treatment and your anatomy. I hope this helps you.
