It baffles me how this channel simply doesn't explode in subs. Such a welcoming place to be, with lovely videos, concise information and top notch producing values.

Another great video. I have an odd but quick question. I have a Tektronix 2246 as well. What beautiful scopes these are. Mine developed a problem where the built-in voltmeter is not always working and the cursors for measuring time differential are also wonky. I have the SM but can't find a good description of how that part of the circuit works. Do you have any insight? Keep up the good work!
That's a good question. Tek are very good with their technical documentation, it must be in there. A quick look shows the readout system foldout which covers the circuitry for the readout generation and there is some explanation of readout circuit operation in section 3. This must work with the measurement processor circuit. For wonky readout, I'd look at the driver parts of the readout circuit and they do reference cursors a lot in that section. If you have a searchable PDF version of the SM, searching for cursors is very helpful.
@@LiquidAudio I wanted to briefly loop back on this. The battery came yesterday and last night I disassembled the scope to install the new batt. As I was inspecting the old battery, I noticed gobs of flux left on the board from a previous install -- not a good sign. I looked closer and noticed that one of the traces leading to the battery had lifted from the board; it was kind of floating. Apparently, it would sometimes make the connection and other times not. I put the new batt in and re-created that trace with a line of solder to make a permanent connection (I sure could have used one of your burnishing tools). Lo and behold, it now works like a champ. Thanks again for the inspiration and please record more videos. After a hard day at my day job, nothing is more relaxing than sitting quietly and watching, listening and learning. R
