Hey guys!
First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy new year! I hope you've all had a good one!
So in this tutorial, I show you how to create a liquid-like effect in photoshop which can be used for a wide variety of purposes, but of course for me, these would be used behind my lettering work. As I mention at the start of the video, I understand that the overall concept is fairly straight forward, you use the liquify tool, however, I am showing you the settings which I have found to work best, and some tips to help you achieve the best possible effect! In addition to the liquid effect, I also take you through a couple of further steps to give it the halftone and grainy look which you may have seen on my Instagram posts, and at the start of this video. As always, I really hope this tutorial helps you out in one way or another and teaches you something you maybe didn't know prior to watching.

wow some really awesome tips and techniques here! I've been struggling with this effect! I find it really hard to create this kind of randomness without it looking absolutely shite and uniform but your vid has made me a lot more confident in it! I'm able to follow up until having to go to filter> filter gallery> sketch > half tone. When I go into filter gallery my liquid effect doesn't turn black and white like yours does, it stays the same color and when I click half tone it shows a grey screen with small dots and blots of darker grey areas. Is the issue because of the colors I chose or is there something that I missed?

Totally geeking out over this effect! Superb stuff man! Can you point out why you need to convert the halftone layer to a smart object and then rasterize it?

hahah glad you like it man! and yeah sure! Basically, once you drag the slider down to get rid of the white, visually, the white isn't there, however, if you try and add any effects to it, you will notice that it applies to everything, so for example, if you open hue and saturation, then drag the lightness slider to the left, the whole image will go black, rather than just the black dots. I found that converting it to a smart object, then rasterising it fixes this. Alternatively, you can just add a new empty layer above or below it, and merge the 2 layers, it does the same thing but it's another way to do it. Anyway, I hope that helps clear things up haha, I got a bit carried away in my explanation 😂 Take it easy dude!

Hi! I tried this effect before and when i went ahead to save it, it was heavily pixelated, even though i saved it as a max quality file. I also checked the resolution and its a standard 300 ppi. Any tips?
