I saw him for the first time today at 6am it is now 11 am and can't stop watching his videos. What a teacher he is truly so knowledgeable. His voice helps you to continue to listen and learn. If I had the money he definitely would be my teacher. I started 2 months ago to learn I am 69 and he is the bad ass on the block . Awesome teacher I have today so much from him so happy. Love this guy

Troy, you're a great teacher and terrific player! Your legendary books have survived the test of time and still are my go to whenever I'm lost in the woods. Thanks and cheers, from Portugal.

The frustrating part is: All you're teaching in this video, you taught me about 30 years ago through your umatched books. But then I came across other guitarists. And everyone thought they had a better approach and I got unsure about my playing. That was really stupid. To this day, I always recommend "Heavy Metal Lead Guitar 1+2". They're perfect!

I'm still practice same legato. Practice different think write music. But never left this. Fundamentals. Some time when I have little problem I m come back to fundamentals. speed mechanics for lead guitar. Flight of the bumblebee it's really help me when I need solid pick. Great lesson troy. Great detail.

Thanks Yeril, yes everything comes down to fundamentals. If the fundamentals are good, it always sounds good! 👍

So glad to have recently stumbled upon your You Tube web site. Even happier to see that you are still putting together guitar tutorials such as this one. All excellent btw. I have all of your guitar books from way back when...and they are pretty much still in excellent condition. Considered vintage stuff today LOL...to me at least! Back then you were one of the few instructors that included a cassette tape with their books/lessons...and by including a cassette tape with the guitar book allowed us to follow along and listen with the tablature. That way we were able to "HEAR" what things were supposed to sound like. "INCLUDING" a cassette tape with a guitar book back then was pretty much ground breaking because all other lessons were in tableture only. There was no way to "HEAR" what any of the licks or lessons were supposed to sound like. "RU-vid" wasn't around yet and guitarists had to pretty much learn everything by "EAR". VHS was the standard video format. No RU-vid yet....barely any internet if I remember right??? Hot Licks Videos did have a handful of some instructional stuff but nothing else available for guitarists to "watch or listen to" ....You were one of the first, and I believe a pioneer for what RU-vid guitar lessons have become today. Most people do not know this. Thanks for such a good lesson on legato and also wanted to let you know that you look and sound GREAT!!!..... and still to this day one of the best !!!!

Hi troy nice to see you ... I wanted to let you know about something .. there is this guitar instructor who's name and links I will not share here because I don't like to advertise him at all, he gets enough on his own, and this is your page and I respect your privacy .. anyway he has been on you tube for long time and he has his Facebook streams which run close to two hours every time .. he is able to play all types of guitar techniques and to combine them in meaningful ways to play/improvise over backing tracks and he is not just noodling around .. he knows what he is doing .. you can hear the progressions in his lines the problem is he doesn't teach anyone what he knows .. what he does teach is very basic and rudimentary things assuming every one is just a beginner .. I for one have played the guitar longer than he has and I know how to execute those techniques what I'm interested is knowing how to put it all together and be able to acknowledge progressions in meaningful ways and make it work .. Is there a way for me to send you a link privately so you can check on this ..may be you can teach us a few things that would provide more fret board freedom and would make more sense.
@TroyStetinaMusic
@TroyStetinaMusic 2 года назад
Yes, I may know who you are referring to. I think many very good players assimilate lines to the point that they just follow their musical instincts, and that works great for playing (at least for a % of players who develop such intuition naturally) but people in this situation have no way to teach what they are doing because it's not a conscious process. They don't understand it so they don't have a process to get there other than showing bits and pieces of their patterns. That said, yes, all the principles that make melody work will make fast soloing also feel more melodic and purposeful. So that's really what you need to concentrate on. I have covered that extensively in a variety of videos on patreon.com/TroyStetina (tier 6 primarily). It's a big subject, though, but that's the best place to begin I think.

Video hits a home run Troy but that isn’t surprising. I have learned more from you in the past six months than I have in the past 24 years of play guitar and I appreciate you greatly. Any news on the speed mechanics 2 when I can purchase it?

Troy is a genius guitarist & teacher! Really very useful lesson! Thank you, Troy! I remember you from Thrash & speed metal cassette. It is AWESOME guide! Good powerful sounding and technique is absolutely clear. But sound of _this_ guitar is really terrible. Plastical, poor and synthetical.

I like that guitar a lot. Although, I do notice that the tone on this particular vid is a little excessively bright and tinty sounding.
