I struggled watching you struggle with the RMX!😂. I found improvement with moving the seat forward and focusing on making my strokes less sweepy, keeping them closer to the boat. Also found favoring an edge vs side to side bobble helped. Tracked way better the more forward the seat was placed, but then I didn’t like how much of a gap there was behind the backband and having to be creative in securing my dry bag and throw bag so they wouldn’t fall out if I took a swim. (6’ 34” inseam, 190lbs). Yeah the more I think of it, it’s definitely not a beginner boat for someone who just wants an easy first start. (Not at all implying that is you! It’s just a boat that takes some getting used to if you have the patience, but I love the results now!)
I'm sure with enough effort I could dial it in. I just didn't have the patience when I knew the Scorch and could go back to it. I wanted it to be better than the Scorch and for me it just wasn't.
@@BeaterBoater yeah can’t fault you at all for going back to what you know works great for you! I look forward to seeing future reviews from you, assuming you enjoy putting in the work! 😉
Very interesting closing comments and analysis. You want ‘a boat that goes where you wanna go’. I’m looking for a creeker to replace my LL Alpha 75, which always felt a bit bargy, got pushed around and without edges, was hard to get where I wanted to go in the flow. Speaking of Flow… maybe Jackson’s Flow will be the one.
I ran the middle Ocoee three times and moved the seat twice. Forward was definitely better. I just couldn't make peace with the tracking and getting spun out. I'm sure some of that was pilot error. I'm also sure if I worked really hard I could tame the RMX. The question was why work hard on learning a new boat when there's one I already knew and trusted. I think it boils down to new boat envy and preference. In no way am I saying the RMX is a bad boat, it was just a bad boat for me.
@@BeaterBoater Betwen the two - RMX and Scorch -It's just what you said - the Scorch has way more aggressive edging. That's what you're use to and how it responds to you. The RMX is much smoother edge wise ( LL has a history of virtually little to no edge). BTW - Great license plate!
How dare you say the Scorch isn’t perfect. Borderline blasphemy sir. But seriously the scorch is the best creek boat I’ve found yet. It’s not the most forgiving creek boat, but it’s forgiving enough and very performance based. I’d personally like to give the Soul Hammer and the new Flow a shot as I like lower volume creekers. But I doubt they’ll win me over from the scorch.
