Possibly the most underrated RU-vid music video of all time. Several years on and still the coolest "indie" thing that I revisit that never did eventually become mainstream. A diamond in the rough.

When I visited Ireland I made the trip down to Dingle where this clip was shot. The charm of Lisa's singing drew me there. It's small old pub and the closet they performed in is ridiculously small. It was mid-afternoon, nearly empty,, but one fella picked up a guitar, another pulled a flute from his back pocket and they played in the good Irish tradition. Loved Ireland.
Me too, we visited Dingle last June and popped into Dick Mac's just to have a drink where this was shot! Had a Red Breast while my little girl had a tinkle on the piano in the back room (it was out of tune though 😢).

This is without a doubt, the absolutely best thing in the world... You have won the internet. Not just for the song and musicianship, the nonchalant drum kit, adorable kids and wonderful barman, it sounds great and is well shot...The fact that your all playing in a cupboard is perfect... First saw this video years ago and loved it. Just rewatched. It's like the definition of "authentic". Lisa & her band are amazing... But I guess the coolest thing of this video is to know that real old fashion Pubs may still exist. Makes you want to visit ☺️🇮🇪

Maybe it's the slightly faster pace, or the overall atmosphere of where this was performed, but I like this version a lot better than the studio version of this song. Put's a smile on my face every time I see this
Gosh, I haven't been here for a decade or more; life is different in every way but still I know this song like nothing has changed and no time has passed.
After I watched this, I had a minute of just.. Silence. And not to get too melodramatic but I realised there were tears in my eyes. She's just so... Beautiful in all respects. God I just want to give her a hug just to say thank you for existing.

581sci Yea ive heard him confess that. I do believe ppl can mature though. Alot of people (especially late teens to early 20s) go through a stage of self importance. Its part of being naive. We dont have to be young to be naive, we just have to be in an unfamiliar circumstance. For Damien it was international acclaim and instant success. He dealt with it poorly as alot of people would. I believe the album 'my favourite faded fantasy' is his penance. "You could be my poison, my cross, my razorblade". - My faded fantasy. In fact most of Damiens music expresses regret, he realizes his mistakes tragically late. As a non perfect human being I can relate to that.
+Pam Pam As I understand it, Hannigan was his girlfriend and was also in his band. He dumped her and fired her from the band (without warning just before a concert in Germany). Or so I have read. He is a wanker. She is better off without him.
+irons man I think you are really underestimating Lisa, shes not only the one with pretty voice, her songwriting is always very clever and charming and she also have great ideas for her music videos, they are very original.
I was lucky enough to listen to Lisa in an old church with incredible acoustics and had the pleasure of talking to her for a short time. She has, without question, my favourite voice. Song's just don't have lyrics like this anymore, I look forward to seeing her live again.

What I love about this video is that it really shows all of them enjoying music to the full. They're having so much fun, and that sorta rubs off on me. Makes me feel music really is joy!

This is such a good performce from everyone and soo much better than the studio recording. Not enough people have heard this. This song has been popping up through my rabbit holes for years and I'm always grateful to hear it.
I feel positively amazing to be irish when I listen to her not that i think my ancestors are any better than anyone else.. She makes me feel less bad about taking the drink from time to time and she's a beautiful singer and person.

Fantastic video! I absolutely loved it! Even though I am suffering with depression at the minute, and feel very unhappy, this video made me smile, and I felt sad when it ended. Love Lisa Hannigan's work!
I’ve been to this pub. On one side it was a shoe repair shop and in the other a pub. What a treat to find a great tune sung by the phenomenal Lisa Hannigan in such a unique environment. Great band too!

Wow that was good. For anyone that doesnt know, that small space where they are playing is called a "snug". Most old pubs in Ireland still have them. But just used as a extra private spot for 4 to 10 people. They were used exclusively for women, when women were not supposed to be served in pubs. You can see the door (at 0:22 ) where the women were served a drink and the door closed again. Id imagine that the acoustics in that small space was far better for recording (no echo, or reverb etc?) (maybe ?)
I alway cannot find this song. Milion times I tried to search for a band in a pub playing newspaper, but didn't find it. Finally got the answer from a friend remembering the name of Lisa Hannigan. :-D :)
