@@meu02136 close, it was about dealing with loss and coping with the pain because of it.. and the interesting ways people do it. The movie is called "PIG" starring Nicholas Cage.

@@beav1221 [spoilers] nah you missed the point. Both Rob and Darius were keeping their lovers alive in one way or the other, eventhough they had died. They weren't psychologically ready to let go of them and take the pain. Darius's wife had attempted suicide which left her in a vegetative state, and instead of letting her die, he kept her alive in his house through medical care, eventhough she was brain dead. He wouldn't let her die. Rob on the other hand kept his partner alive through the pig. It's not made clear in the movie how or why he links the pig to his partner in his head, but eventhough he knows his partner's dead, he's kept her alive in some part of his brain, through the pig, staving away the pain, which he finally was forced to feel at the end of the movie when he found out the pig was dead. There's a parallel made between Darius and Rob, Darius is doing exactly what Rob is, but he's doing it quite literally by not letting her pass away.

So sorry you get disappointed. I am just searching the internet for a more patronising comment.

MS makes a good point. Billie Holiday sez "If you copy, it means you're working without any real feeling. No two people on earth are alike, and it's got to be that way in music or it isn't music." Still, it's a good way to learn - copy something, until your own magical thing emerges from it.

Yeah I noticed a lot of his songs font have that "catch" that makes you want to dance and listen a million times. The ones that did turned up in the top 10 tho. People know a catchy song when they hear it.

When I first heard it (and their cover of "So You Remember Me") in "Land", I thought that it WAS the Jennys! ;) Had to wait for the credits to find out it was this other-worldly trio, and now I have to get everything they ever did as well! LOL ;)

I was at a Bruce Springsteen concert in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena all maybe 10 years ago, he did not sing this song and I so want to hear it. So on the way out down the exit ramp I started singing and I kid you not everybody around me started singing it it was the coolest thing. Would I love to hear the staves sing this live absolutely absolutely absolutelyLove love love their version

Mike Johnson I don't know how you could honestly call this soulless. Nothing and no one, not even the man in black, could capture this song like Springsteen. I love the original; nothing I've heard so far can compare but this is still beautiful and ethereal and *soulful* . I actually think it's the ethereal quality that throws it a bit because the original is so visceral... but this is still exquisite.

I think Mike is mistaking gravelly, angsty male vocals for owning the market on "soulful." There is a mourning, sad lilt here, and to dismiss the passion simply because it isn't "gritty and raw" (I presume) is narrow-minded. Honestly, I can't stand the original; it's so grating and dingy and tedious. I think it is one of his worst songs, hands-down. The Staves have given it a new life -- one I can actually get behind.
