Pharrell or all of those other dull mainstream hip hop/rnb artists of today would never be able to make such a masterpiece. This is from 2001 yet even today sounds ahead of its time.
Hell yeah! She was down to earth, spiritual, the best female rapper imo, and just the realest. TLC will always be my roots, and Left Eye will always be in my mind, heart and spirit. I hope this next new TLC album has some left eye in there.
Watching this made me realize that Lisa would have made an amazing host for her very own children’s television show. I don’t think the world saw even a quarter of all that this woman was capable of before her passing. God rest her soul. 😞
kiko485 she was actually working on making a children’s cooking show. She was going to invite kids onto the show and teach them how to make healthy meals but sadly she died before she could film any episodes.
Jessica Oh gosh really?! I never knew that! She had such a vibrant personality and was absolutely brimming with creativity. Lisa came across as someone who would be great with kids. A children’s cooking show would have been perfect for her. Such a shame.
Lisa an Aaliyah wer definitely some of the biggest losses to the black music world - within less than a year, the world lost two of the most talented, promising black music artists in similar ways. 😢
BINGO!!! I still can't describe the words for this song, but I still love it!! When it first came out, I was the only one playing it and my cousins would get so upset. Next thing you know, guess who started singing it? ALL OF THEM!!! They kept calling it a silly song, but if you listen to the lyrics - it's just epic. The beat, the graphics - Lisa RIP was ahead of her time!
I can’t imagine the frustration she felt when this song flopped in the U.S. I understood what she was trying to do, always loved her creativity. Had she lived in 2008-2009 and released it this would’ve definitely soared to the top of the charts. Left Eye still remains so underrated even after death, it’s quite irritating.
She was always ahead of her time and did things no one thought of. Her creativity was misunderstood by people who didn't know how to think outside the box.
Well most people here only likes it after a long time, because music these days flop flopper than back then. Even if this song was released on 2009ish it might still flop.
Songs have reached the number one spot on the charts due to the popularity of a dance challenge on tiktok. Tik tok maybe cringe but don't talk down on its power. If a large population is using a song on that app it helps big time
@@villebooks it does you’ll be richer . It blows artist up overnight ! It’s a cringe app but if u have a business or make music it can make it a success over night
if this was made with today’s technology & she had the budget she deserved, it would’ve been crazy. this is still super cool considering the time it was made in. she was always way ahead of everyone else.
No you and everyone like you say that about everyone that fails and dies. If she was alive you would never have watched this or commented and if you did you’d think it’s weird af. Y’all so weird and stupid with this person was ahead of their time that’s why they failed and they’re also dead too…but you and the other geniuses that make the same comment recognized it right? Haha so fake it’s really sad. She was great in TLC and it was tragic she died so young. But this obsession with saying someone’s ahead of their time because they had a massive failure and also died is such..I don’t know either weird or just retarded or your all zombies so you feel like o yeah I’ve seen this saying before…this must be what I say.
Left Eye was on the verge of a MAJOR transformation and it had already started just before she left this earth. I LOVE that she used a sample from Earth Wind and Fire's SLAMMIN' "Drum Song" from 1974. R.I.P. Left Eye, Maurice White, Prince, Natalie Cole, and many more. . .
It's really beyond belief that this is from 2001 yet even if it was released today would still sound 20 years ahead of its time. Timeless masterpiece of progressive hip hop.
I was so disappointed when this wasn't a huge hit. This song was AHEAD! I loved this song when it came out, thought it was one of the best things that came out that year. Then it just faded.
shane1100 plz they would both be washed up same as brandi Monica and the remaining members of tlc...this video is a perfect example of how well left eye did by herself...its wack and the only reason ppl would disagree is because she's dead.
Easy to call someone a punk over the Internet when you know you're safe and there's no repercussion huh?(who's the real punk) you obviously. Yes I understand redemption, but after years and years of building and growing that is no longer an excuse. You see, what you are doing is using Basic Psychology. To say the world is still here because people need to redeem themselves it to always have an excuse for the world to be here. That is NOT why the world is still here, because the majority of people in this world(like you) are not children of God. When God said "let us make man in our image" he wasn't just talking to himself, he was talking to the Annunaki. The Annunaki had free will to create human beings, you have the Good Annunaki's that belong to God. Then you have the bad fallen angel Annunaki's that belong to lucifer. The bad fallen angel Annunaki's created human beings that are not real, and when God DOES return they will get left behind and turn into zombies and go to the lake of fire. Because they are one with lucifer and they are Mistakes. They reject Life and they accept Death and they hate life and attack it WITH death. It is not wrong to question what doesn't make sense, and I'm sure God understands that. I know where Aaliyah and Left Eye are, because I have seen them on the other side several times. I have died and come back myself and have seen God with my own eyes, and I'd rather see Aaliyah and Left Eye LIVING than to see them unhappy and sleep when they should be Awake. I have communicated with them both on several accounts(especially left eye) look on my channel and you will see I have enlightened people on how they were both taken by the Angel of Death. Your comment shows you made a misconception due to the fact that you do not understand redemption, so it's amazing how you want to mention the word redeem yet you skipped right over a redeemed comment and went right to being the devil's advocate. At the end of the day, it just shows what god you really serve and are connected with. How about you try being a bit more humble and diplomatic next time with your responses and stop trying to fuel fire with fire, got that? Good........
Alright, well when I wrote that comment it was just out of frustration(the first one). I want to see this world end and be destroyed, there's literally nothing here but people just existing. It's all dead, that's why when you watch the videos today you see nothing but Death and Darkness, it is lucifers empire. I never talked to Left Eye, I just seen her smile at me a few times. Aaliyah did tell me something but I always told myself I wouldn't tell anyone what she said so I'll leave that one alone. They are okay though, but I'd rather see them living their Dreams than to be sleep waiting to. But I will say this, all that stuff we talked about as far as the controversy, just forget about it.I think you just misunderstood my post. But you have to understand the concept of redemption, you were being the devil's advocate but that doesn't mean you are a child of satan. When I say devil's advocate, I merely mean you don't know what you're talking about and you are being persuaded by the devil to fight an argument you don't really know why you are fighting. But anyway, there is a lot going on right now as far as Armageddon and Planet X/Nibiru but this world is not suppose to be here right now. I'm gonna remove these comments eventually, just because I never leave controversial comments on here and there's really no point to them, or maybe there is? Maybe there is a reason I left those post on here. Peace
Right, that's why I said maybe there's a point. And it's cool. But I don't know about that Documentary because jesus is zeus, the first 1611 KJ bible didn't have the name "jesus" in it but Iesous which was Inserted by the greeks who were worshiping Zeus which is well known in Greek Mythology. The letter J wasn't invented until the 1600s. I've seen many documentaries where people have said they saw jesus or what not, but jesus is a fallen angel, zeus. I died in a car accident in 2012 and came back, and after that I started seeing the other side and saw God with my own eyes and that's when I found out that God's Son wasn't his physical human son, but was his Sun* meaning his Light to the World. The messiah said "I am the light of the world, he who shall follow me shall not walk in Darkness, but shall have the LIGHT of LIFE" the sun here on Earth is the Light of Life. The story of Mary and Joseph in mathew 1:23 was made up by human beings and was taken from the story of Immanuel in Isiah 7:14 read it and you will see. Also read Luke 1:32 where it says "jesus" father is David. There's many errors in the Bible because it was manipulated by luciferians. Once you get into the understanding of Aliens and Spaceships, things will start to make since. But this world is controlled by fallen angels(the fallen angel Annunaki's) and lucifer and it is a world of lies. The cross is a sword from when the devil stabbed God's Sun* all that stuff happened in the past life. Noah's Ark wasn't a Ship, but was the Archturian Spaceship that dropped off humans and animals to re-populate the Earth after the past life was destroyed.
Of course one might find that hard to believe or say something like that, since they have never seen God, but those of us who are close to him are aloud to, because it's our divine right. Lisa was meditating once, and after her meditation, Dr.Sebi asked her "What did you see?" she said "I saw God".
The Asian inspiration is very clear here. Lisa herself said in her documentary that she loves Asian cultures, dances, etc. That bit where the voice gets high and nasal sounds much like Chinese opera, the dancers towards the end had Asian costumes and some of the fashion in this video seems inspired from Harajuku fashion.
It’s funny bc African American women partly inspired Gyaru/Harajuku fashion. Asians came from us so we are really kindred people tho ppl just starting to realize that.
+Streatham Soprano Isnt it wild how this song has a line dance to it, this song should've been way popular than that " Whip Nae / Nae " song, Lisa was way ahead of her time
+Streatham Soprano thats cause her label at the time Arista didnt believe in her wen it came to her solo album i bet they regret now i guess they didnt like the fact she chose to go solo at the time wen TLC was still hot
This Video is filed with so much LIFE and COLOR and SOUL and takes me to another Dimension. The Video represents Heaven and Eternal Life. That's why in the Beginning you see the Dimensional Time-Travel from Heaven to Earth. The Kids ask her "Where's this Place you're taking us?" her Block Party is her World in Heaven. "We were Dancing all Night Long" represents Eternal Life. Music being the Rhythm and Circle of Life. At 3:48 she starts "Glowing" representing that she is an Angel. Left Eye was so Smart and Inspirational. Happy Birthday and R.I.P Beautiful Angel.
SoulKidVids you is so right she was I have the gift of discernment and I'm very spiritual so I can feel it tgrought the phone and she also knew she was gonna die she felt something following her
Supernova was and still is an underrated album. The things she is talking about on that album is beyond anything most of our brainwashed minds can handle. If its not about sex, money and partying it doesn't get recognized. Just listen to Universal Quest or the hidden track Breathe her messages are really powerful. RIP Left Eye. ur #1 fan for life.
I wish the industry would’ve gave her solo music a chance ..... this would really make a cool song on Disney Channel. She was so unique and creative .... God allowed her to leave her mark before he called her home. She didn’t even seem scared when she crossed over.... 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
She was ahead of her time! She was on that numerology, astrology and so much more!! 2023 Happy birthday to all of us gems!! People underestimate us a lot and they fail to see how awesome we are. RIP Left Eye!!!

People were not ready for this in 2001. It was a very good party song . Great sampling. As was commented she was way ahead of her time. The only thing I heard was the chorus that sounded like little kids might have affected how some clubs would give it play. Other than that, it was an underrated song. Funny thing is I never heard it played in my area.

I was an engineer for a recording studio where Lisa was managing a female rapper named Nandi. I'm so glad that I had a chance to spend quality time with such an Amazing energy Force Eversince I met her I became attractive to babydolls Yeah I called her That too & Yes she was ahead of her time. I miss you Baby Doll.
It's a shame this type of creativity for music and visuals wasn't as welcomed as much back then. The likes of Gwen and Fergie came along later and became successful with this similar brand of uniqueness which is disheartening when you think how far Lisa could've gone.
Were now attempting holograms. The eye in the doorbell= video doorbell (ring). On that harajuku before Gwen She was just to far ahead of her time I remember receiving this video back in 02 when working for interscope recs.
Not that much hip pop/ rap female singers are not that good these days but left eye was say better. So much talent she had rest her soul. We miss you left eye
It's crazy that Left Eye did a video dedicated the kids, when T-Boz did something similar for her video to "My Getaway". I know at the time they were still on bad terms, but it's unique to remember just why they were like sisters. Creating similar ideas with their own flow and spin. I love the beat to "My Getaway" and the video to "Block Party". Both crazy good records that got unfairly ignored by U.S. radio.
ThisIsMissyExclusive I used to hear My Getaway on the radio sometimes tho,but never heard Block Party ,of course That's due to it being released overseas only
Lisa was before her time. Period. Nicki, GaGa, all these carbon copies who are doing NOW what Lisa was doing now 12 years ago. Some of you all have no idea. If GaGa put this out you would think this came from Heaven. Truth is it would've come from the creative mastermind that was Lisa Lopes. Her being deceased has zilch to do with it. She was just crazy creative and extremely talented.
Masami the Kawaii Princess Actually GaGa ALSO stole from Lisa and SHE mentions her as an inspiration. Please don't discredit Lisa because she DID inspire those people,
Why do you feel the need undermine Nicki or any other woman to up lift Lisa? I don’t see anything remotely similar to Lisa & Nicki other then general characteristics of being women who rapped. I definitely don’t see GaGa period but why use the word copy? Are they not allowed to be inspired?
LA Reid didn’t want to promote this. It kinda reminds me of what missy elliott and outkast were doing around that time too and they were able to have success
The budget she was given for this was garbage hence why the green screen is so visible and the directing looks cheap. The overall production didn’t seem to live up to the weird and unique concept lisa was going for either but she still managed to make the best of it. It didn’t flop because it was bad, it flopped because it wasn’t released in the US. Although i’m not that much of a fan of the video, i do like the song, not the kids singing bit though, although i do like her appeal to children as i know she loves them a lot. RIP!
I can't believe it's been 20 years since Left Eye's death. Hard to believe that she's gone but I'm gonna celebrate her life and legacy. "Supernova" is such an under appreciated album. R.I.P. Left Eye!!! Gone but never forgotten!!!
Release this song nowadays and you'd have seen her at the Grammys, with a whole dance inspired by this Shame music industry is a killer, I hope left eye knows how many of us still have her in our hearts
Luis Mihajlow lisa was oozing with originality, socially responsible conscious messages and talented .., others specially Beyance just copies... a world of difference and so are their audiences. (Yes I spelled B’s name wrong don’t care to give that much attention to it)
No she really wouldn’t. They were great as a band. Her one attempt to go off on her own failed so bad. So for you to say that takes away the other band members. If she never died you’d never be saying this. You’d say dam this song sucks. Still very sad she died young
@AlexB-pp7dc The reason it didn't take off is because the label wouldn't back her. It wasn't released in the USA. She couldn't fly international airlines to promote it due to 9/11. Her label could've got her private jets, but like I said they wouldn't help her. So yes, if she would've had backing by the label she would've been bigger. Chilli was sleeping with the label owners. Lisa didn't want to make songs about cheating and shi like that, the other 2 were happy to go along with whatever they were told to do by the label. Get your facts right.
I feel like Lisa would've made a hell of a producer. Come to think of it there wasn't ANY female R&B/Hip-hop producer during 90s 2000s. Not sure if they have now?
I really wish she would've been given more time on Earth to birth more of her art, but I am grateful what for what she did give us while she was here. She was truly creative and talented.
The only reason why music and this video was so amazing, is because she was talented, creative, and had one heck of a mind. I still listen to her music everyday and TLC's to. But all together mostly hers. R.I.P Angel, you will be dearly missed.
a bit too ahead of its time, like that busta ELE album. kids had to be eased into stuff like this gradually with regular ass EDM and shit. the first missy shits were the perfect level of weird for the time it was released. still, this was my SHIT back in the day.
I was 12 when this came out and I didn't get it back then. I'm nearly 32 and I now get it. This song is a fucking vibe and way ahead of its time. She was a special soul, I hope she's thriving in her mission in the next chapter.
***** wht is you talkin bout?? I ain't said nothin or nothin 2 u I didn't even comment on this u need to chill out and quit messin with people and left Eye is a legend so u need 2 chill out and leave me alone
Wow lisa was just a brilliant creative crazy genius. She looked like she was going to coachella lol No one was dressing or making music like this back in the day. Ahead of her time. This is music we'd bump to today and it's not uncommon for girls to dress like this now. She is so underrated. Supernova would do numbers if they would give it it's proper release.
i really hated how they talked about her album…. like someone said they hate it’s just her singing/rapping (um she was going solo!). it didn’t go through cause it wasn’t time yet like dangggggg but shoot i woulda been bumping to this
Aw, I remember this. Her album was very very good and ahead of its time. She was a risk taker and I can't imagine the likes of Nicki Minaj or Iggy Azalea making a record like 'Supernova'.
Lil Mama and Azealia Banks are the only girls who have been directly influenced by Lisa and the only ones who even deserve to be spoken in the same sentence. Iggy is a clone of Nicki and Nicki is so far from being as Free as Lisa was, music wise. It’s about MUSIC, STYLE SOUND and ENERGY.
This song, video is crazy F-R-E-S-H!! Lisa was so far ahead of the curve creativity wise...she had a futuristic 🧠 when it came to music...word up! RIP Left 👁

She was sooo sweet and cool ❤️🔥🌟her creativity is next level ❣️The more often you listen to this song the better it gets🔥I wish she had collaborated with Missy Elliott or Aaliyah and Busta Rhymes😍
