This is so sweet. I love the beginning of this scene where he uses reverse psychology on her to hypnotize her. "I am not hypnotizing you, Lisbon... You are not in a relaxed trance state... Sleep." So cool!
All this process is done with a great deal of respect and love for Lisbon. He is very gentle to her. He noticed she is very stressed to be hynotize, so he manage the situacion with great sweetness.
Marcelo Hughes I know I am late to take part in any discussions about the show. But is it only me who saw them as a couple in future and enjoyed every scene in which they were together ?
No, I think you are not the only one. I had same feeling since first episode. I love to see them together, sometimes playing as two kids and others beeing soooo romantic. Baker and Tunney loves each other as friends in real life so this feeling is very strong..we can feel it- And of course we love them and we wanted them to be happy together- Hugs!!
Edina Arouca it’s so good to discuss about the show here. Because I started watching this show three months back and none of friends, or probably anyone in my country was watching this. I got so attached to this show and it’s characters that I needed someone to discuss.
I'm surprised no one is commenting on Jane's reaction when she mentioned "the new guy in the mail room is hot." A little confused, surprised…maybe a bit jealous? And then "Okay, let's fast forward." XD
You are right. I couldn't make it out what she was saying, because she said almost whispered, because his response was is it? I tried to listen to this clip, and because his reaction I then listen to the clip 3 times. I agree with you. Jane reaction was interesting, he looks surprise, but also tried to avoid that conversation.
@@TheMicroTrak ……Um……no he's not? He had a wife, and a child with said wife, and he loved them dearly enough that avenging them was his sole motivation for how many years? He slowly falls in love with Lisbon over the course of the show - the series finale is them getting married - and the actor isn't gay either, he also has a wife and kids. So no, he's not. Now mind you, if I didn't know the character's backstory, I would have pegged him as being asexual - he reminds me of my best friend, both too childish and too mature to be interested about that sort of thing; but knowing his story, he's clearly not queer, he just doesn't obsess over that sort of thing like most people do. The point of this comment was that he seemed jealous…Am I being trolled? Because you've failed at upsetting me, and I type as easily as I breathe so this isn't an inconvenience…you've just mildly bemused me.
@@arjunudiawar In fairness, just used evils' own tactics on that faux Red John and the real one. And they deserved it well and true. They sowed, should've expected the inevitable harvest.
@@cameronhubbard415 -- I agree. Everyone's always swooning like bobble heads over Simon Baker and completely disregarding Robin's particular appeal. Simon's gloriously beautiful, but even as a hetero female, I find Robin Tunney's portrayal of Lisbon to be irresistible. She's incredibly strong and capable, fiercely loyal and 100% there for the people she loves and respects, and when Jane deserved it, she punched him in the nose. She's mostly unafraid to hold penetrating eye contact, which means she's very direct and doesn't back down easily. Also, her petite frame is a perfect compliment to Simon's, the brunette shade of her hair is reminiscent of mink and her eyes are just as dreamy as his. Robin Tunney's a frigging catch!
@@eme.261 I think it is the same kind of appeal Scully from The X Files had. I always found myself completely entranced by her and her performance. David Duchovny was hot, but Gillian Anderson was hypnotic .
I find this scene amazing. Jane sooo tender with Lisbon. So sweet with her. Lisbon so vulnerable..like a little scared girl. Love and understanding all arround. Both gaves us a Master Class in acting.
It's funny, as far as I remember n d entire show whnevr he's confronted with a crying girl he runs scared, like whn rigspelt broke up vanpelt was crying Jane ran away.,but here Lisbon starts to get emotional all he wants to do is comfort and hold her, awww😍. Shows how much he really cares about her.
Now I’m see how he changes his tone, cadence , eye contact and sometimes physical touch throughout the series when he’s hypnotizing people or opening them up this his suggestion
Basically my favorite scene of the entire series, "..94, 93 listen to me lisbon, all the stress would have to melt away, you'd have to feel calm and relaxed and very safe, it just about impossible, I am not hypnotizing you....its not going to happen
@@brennah1467 well first there are the steps which he uses to get her in a deeper trance. Also, her falling is very realistic. The words he chose are optimal, etc.
funny how people in this serie get hypnotized to easily: I wanted to get hypnotozed (for medical reasons) and 4 different specialists couldn't do it. :'(
it's easier for some than others. If you weren't able to go under there must be some part of you that just didn't quite want it, or wasn't ready for it. Unlike what most people think no one can hypnotize you unless every part of you, even the subconscious part of you is open to it.
msinvincible2000 The people in this show are being portrayed as somnambulists (easily hypnotized). I always search for somnambulists during my stage tour as they react the best to commands. While the average person may not become entranced as easily as these actors/actresses portray, it's still possible. I was originally taught to hypnotize someone via handshake interruption after I've just met someone. It's a street technique and an effective one. However, I've also met people who went to several other hypnotists without success before giving me a try (and succeeding). As I often teach my students to inform people, seeing a Hypnotist can be like a relationship, just because one doesn't work out, doesn't mean none of them will :)
@@ElKamaleon777 I said I wanted. You cant always get what you want.... you cant always get what you want... if if you try sometimes... you comment on youtube!
@@jackfenn7524 He's not exactly a detective. Just a consultant that helps out with the CBI. Ofc, the show isn't real to life, but it makes significantly more sense with context that really can't be explained well in a RU-vid comment.
@@daftie- really?? i thought the pony was actually never mentioned again, even though i presumed she must had given it away since she probably didn't have the time to take care of it
He reached out she pulled away, he was being gentle with her and respectful of her feeling and personal space, way more hot then a forced hug if you ask me. 😊❤
She agreed to be hypnotised, alone, in her apartment, she already trusts him and is allowing him access, she did not pull away and he already touched her when they walked in the door! The second time he touched her, his arm went down and her hand went up, not pushing him away, she just signaling she's done, she wants to be alone, she's embarrassed!
well conversational hypnosis is possible and far more efective in most cases than standard script ones but..still..this was /fast/. I /wish/ i could find someone who was that fast in reality
@Theeka yeah, to an extent. Sometimes, when reenforcing a suggestion, it help to repeat the suggestion in the negative. This whole induction is bogus though, because it's illegal to practice hypnosis in California unless you are certified. Plus, it's tv.
It's illegal to practice *hypnotherapy* unless certified, but as long as you're not claiming you are delivering therapy or clinical work you can still practice hypnosis on others as a hobbyist.
Well, between 1:15 and 1:16 there was a break during which he obviously worked on her some more. We don't see or hear everything Jane did to hypnotize Lisbon.
Framing someone for murder is one thing, but trying to make them believe that they did it... That's just cold.. You might disagree but this is on the top 5 of worst things bad guys did on this show...
Not really true. REM sleep can happen at the same time as total conscious awareness, in the absence of a trance state, which is where lucid dreams come from. Likewise, you can be in a deep trance state whilst awake.
christina113704 Yes, Street Hypnosis, Stage Hypnosis, Conversational Hypnosis, etc. Gold Medal Olympians have used Hypnotherapists to place themselves into the proper mindset that enables them to better visualize what they could do to win said gold medal. Celebrities have used hypnosis to overcome habits/phobias & actress Jessica Alba (if I recall correctly) used Hypnosis instead of hospital anesthesia to birth one of her babies. Hypnotherapy by Dave Elman may be a worthwhile read for you :)
It is. Don't follow down on that path though. Don't even think about looking up where to find a college with hypnosis or hypnotherapy program. It's quite dangerous. Only a few grads being able to function properly in order to contribute to society in meaningful ways. Many of them ends up with opening up psychic reading shops instead. Basically, it's not the mainstream career path and usually frowned upon by modern society. I would not recommend it to you. Beside, it's not a regular campus either since most the people you see there would be very suspicious of each others because being afraid of getting hipzotized by the person they talk to. So it isn't a normal college experience with parties and drinkings.
a•muse Hypnosis in/of itself is nothing more than mental/physical relaxation. Hypnotic phenomenon is when you become so mentally/physically relaxed that you act as you would under, say, the influence of alcohol. Thus, while you can enter an altered state under hypnosis, it’s honestly no different than a state you could self-induce. Comedy stage hypnotists have actually grown in popularity and are much more common than ever before. They enable students to de-stress, alleviate anxiety and actually improve their mental/physical states while allowing them to have fun without worry. Many, including myself, have helped countless people understand the psychological truth (not the Hollywood BS) behind Hypnosis. I’ve managed to hypnotize at least one skeptic every show without a single negative review from said volunteers or surrounding guests/staff on my tour. I strongly advise everyone do their own research to ensure a hypnotist they may see is one they can trust. However, I am not a fan of people misinforming others’ about the dangers of hypnosis. Hypnosis is natural & based on my experience as a touring professional who’s guest taught college psychology, most who are scared of it don’t truly understand it (because most hypnotists don’t thoroughly explain it). Yes, there are immoral/unethical hypnotists out there but to say all hypnotists are bad is like saying all of a single gender is bad due to one bad relationship (which is illogical). Hypnosis is an experience to witness 1st hand without the clouding judgement of others (many of whom misunderstand it without their own experience). If you’re curious and want to have fun, volunteer with a hypnotist you trust, otherwise simply interview the volunteers post-show 🙂
