Let's go Donna. I will take you back for a little while. Then, we must return to 2023, where your life and loved ones are. Keep your head up girl. Your best times are yet to come.
Peoples need to understand that those of us who grew up with this music at the time it came out, we ain't neva , eva , seen the actual videos. Thank God for youtube!
Saw her perform live in New Rochelle back in 2019 along with Noel. Great to see this music still being performed. What a difference from today’s music. You can actually dance to it. And understand the words.
As a DJ who started spinning in NY in the 80’s on Technique 1200 turntables I always loved Latin Freestyle music! It still packs a dance floor to this day! 🇵🇷🇬🇷
Here's my top 5 Like a Child - Noel Give Me Tonight -Shannon Change on Me - Cynthia Can You Feel the Beat - Lisa Lisa Let me be the One - Sa Fire Till I realized I left out any songs by Coro , TKA , Judy Torres , The CoverGirls , Expose , Johnny O , Sweet Sensation , Lil Suzy , Nice and Wild and so many others . What a tough genre to call .
@@jonathanstrauss8194 i’m sick of these old people. like ok continue listening to shitty 90s music like ace of base and ja rule and vanilla ice. i’ll continue listening to amazing music today from the weeknd, ariana grande, celeste, imagine dragons, onerepublic, sza, etc
This stuff got played out by imitators...so folks moved on to something lesser unfortunately. Seriously, for a while Freestyle was the sound you heard all over.
Lisette Melendez grew up in East Harlem, NY where she still resides, and where she began to take an interest in singing at the age of 12. Both her mother and her aunt sang in church and in community theaters, inspiring Lisette to take a chance. Growing up with four other siblings in the "barrio", Lisette set herself apart from the dangers of inner city life. As a child, Lisette spent most of her time at home listening to cassettes and working on her singing skills.
I was 20 y/o in '85, from the Midwest and doing my basic and AIT at Fort Dix NJ. Fell in love with freestyle, especially Latin. I still have Lisette album from back in the day. This was the BEST decade for dance music!!!!! Ever
I remember back in the day when this song first came out, the clubs in Milwaukee where rocking and swaying to this !! The temp in the the house was through the roof ! Never gets old and never can be replicated today !!
OMG..how I miss dancing with my wonderful Latin friends and neighbors from my old Philly neighborhood..great music, great food, best block parties ever😃👍
a) YOU don’t speak for the world b) this was selling millions also back in the day c) this is better, it has a better rhythm and beat and is still being listened to decades later d) today’s kids don’t even listen to the crap they were listening to 5 years ago e) today’s “artists” don’t have the staying power of 80s and 90s artists.
LMAOOOOO!!! I AM BANGING THIS IN 2020!! BORICUA ALL THE WAY!!!! I LOVEEEEEEE MY OLD SCHOOL AND MISS IT SO MUCH. THIS WAS A VERY HUMBLE TIME, JUST DANCE AND SING AND ENJOY LIFE!!! THIS WORLD IS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN NOW! I WISH I TURN BACK TIME!!!!

Brings me back to simpler times man, when music had substance , makes me proud to be boriqua ... 🇵🇷 was jammin this in my dj days when it was all about love .
@@fellowdanbarber3323 I think clowns who post shit like that didn't actually live it. Clubs were even worse back in those days. They see people having fun on movies and videos and think that's all it was.
Oh man, this song brings back so many good memories for me growing up in Brooklyn listening to such great songs on the radio. Music with lyrics that meant something.... Damn you 2020! Take me back....
Im not hating at all but the term "Hispanic" was a racial slur used to define Latinos in the 50s and 60s. Its now been made a box we have to check when a document asks us our race. Its sad to hear when Latinos call themselves that name. Whether you are Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Colombian.....whatever the case may be you aren't hispanic. Have a great day!
@@andrews.7027 -> The United States Census Bureau uses the ethnonyms Hispanic or Latino to refer to a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race and states that Hispanics or Latinos can be of any race, any ancestry, any ethnicity; His·pan·ic /hiˈspanik/ Adjective: relating to Spain or to Spanish-speaking countries, especially those of Latin America; Noun: a Spanish-speaking person living in the US, especially one of Latin American descent. Doesn’t sound “racist” at all; or, am I missing something?
I love this song! I was 14 when this song came out! Love her voice and the energy this song gives! I'm reading through comments to find out that she's still around performing every once in a while. I thought that she was done with music. This is the only song of her's that I know of. Im now going to play this song as often as I can now because this has energy and bounce! Hope that she keeps making memorable music till the wheels fall off!
*_John 10.9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly._* _Jesus Christ loves you. Only Jesus Christ saves. Repent and be saved. God bless you, and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all._
I remember listening to this type of music when I was stationed overseas. I had already heard this music when everyone here in the States didn't know about this kind of music. Still awesome music.
