Fabulous. And what I love how she uses such imaginative coloring, inflection, dynamic and use of the rests (that is the moments when she is NOT singing) to convey the pathos and terrible predicament of the heroine. This is truly remarkable artistry.
I cried listening to this ... really ... I am floored by the beauty of her voice. The wonderfully mature interpretation and emotion she conveyed, her amazing technical security and just the feeling of being assured that a great coloratura soprano is on the world stage who would make the legends that have passed (Callas, Sutherland, Sills, Gencer, Caballe) and those that are at the end of their tremendous careers (Devia, Gruberova, Anderson, Serra) so so proud and confident that this tremendous singing style is alive, well, respected and thriving ... BRAVA Lisette!
Isn’t it wonderful. Your word “respect” rang true to me. She doesn’t gurgle the coloratura, and she has a wonderful trill. On top of that she is not a “diva” either.
Wow!! A soprano that can actually sing Lucia! WHY WHY WHY is she not singing this at the Met instead of the terrible line up of sopranos they have had in the role recently? And that trill...OMG!
Oh yes...Oh, oh, yes...serious business...Lisette got game. Big time. I hear that Mary Callas thing going on in her middle voice...accurate coloratura, tossed off with finesse. Sul fiato at its finest. The whirring and rhythmic pulsing on the whole step trill reminds of both Sills and Leontyne doing the "betcha can't trill like this" thing. I am thrilled for bel canto opera of today...a worthy heiress to the greats who thrilled audiences of yesteryear. ¡Echa pa'lante, Lisette!
The top .... I mean of the young generation ... Gruberova has retired and Anderson/Devia are nearing the end their careers. Oropesa is so respectful and intelligent when it comes to preserving the great Bel Canto tradition. I wish her the very best as she truly deserves all the success and happiness in the world
She has incredible vocal beauty, proper trills, and coloratura that's near perfectly clean. The only thing I'd say is that her volume was too low at times and the tempo should have been a bit faster. If I were not living in Australia I'd go and see her live, as I'm sure she sounds great in the theater. I think she's the best modern soprano we have. She reminds me of Beverly sills.
