This week The Lonely Island and Seth answer questions from listeners! They answer the fan's burning questions about the making of some of their digital shorts, Andy’s Spelling Bee tactics, and so much more!
Just wanna brag, I was at the Milwaukee concert. It was the most fun I've ever had at a concert! Incredible night, not only did Jose Canseco show up, but T-Pain was there for I'm on a Boat. Plus if you didn't know it was the largest free stage concert at Summerfest ever. Just a great crazy concert, thank you!
so excited for another ep of four shock jocks!!! also not to expose myself as a youngling but I realised the other day that the episode which Dick in A Box aired in was released on my second birthday lol
I didn't get a notification for this and it wasn't on the YT home page....had to go to the channel to see it, even though I watch it religiously every Monday morning.
Question for the group: Today You mentioned “The Office” references to lazy Sunday and macgruber. I think there’s a larger pop culture connection out there that needs to be discussed. Specifically, do you think the lyric from Lazy Sunday: “They call us Aaron Burr, from the way we’re dropping Hamiltons” inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda? I’d like to think it did. I envision him as a 13 year old boy seeing that “got milk” commercial (the one with the guy who couldn’t say Aaron Burr because his mouth was full of a PBJ) and that drove LMM to learn about Hamilton. He became obsessed. He dug into every book he could find but he didn’t know what to do with this passion. It ate at him day and night for a decade. Then he heard your lyric and was like, “oh shit, Hamilton rap musical” - and the rest was history. That’s all. You guys are the best. Except Steve, that guy’s a c….
Since you guys have great taste in movies and like Notting Hill, you should definitely check out About Time. Both written by Richard Curtis, but he also directed About Time. It's my all time feel good movie.
I was at the summerfest show and got so excited as soon as they mentioned it right away. It was an amazing show. Much love from foggy Milwaukee town P.s. I'm still waiting for Jorm at the dippin' dots. Where you at??
You mind taking another special episode request: I would love to hear one about the UCB show during the writer's strike '07 (I know you mentioned it during the Brian episode) . If you had a video made and take clips off of it, and got as many voice messages about it from all involved... truly epic!
This is a great idea!! Would love to hear what sketches they performed. Seth also discussed it recently in an interview with Michael Cera and he showed a short clip.
Question for Andy: I went to UC Santa Cruz at the same time as you (late 1990s). When I saw the Ras Trent sketch, I had to assume that it was inspired by the campus scene at UCSC in the 90s. Back then, it was such a big hippie scene with white rastas, guys in patchwork pants, tapestries in dorm rooms, Bob Marley posters, etc. Is that what inspired you? By the way, Ras Trent is one of my all-time favorite sketches!
In the UK, so ESPYs don’t immediately click with me, although I do know what they are but I wasn’t really listening, so I thought “Hmmm, Hamlet *is* a good play”
@@primis82 a couple of times!? On different platforms? At this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen?
If you asked me, I would say that my favorite 4 movies are: Journey to the Center of the Earth Hot Rod That new movie that Andy is in. Akiva's Naked Gun movie that comes out next year. Of course, if somebody else asked me, I would say something different.
Question: During your time doing improv what was your favorite game to play and did you make up any of your own that you wouldn’t mind sharing. -Angelica
Why do you guys, who definitely know better, say "me and _________ wrote that together...." Is this abuse of basic grammar a street cred thing or something?
This is a minority take. I understand but the fact that you guys meet up together every week long enough to go over your old crap but won't do the same amount of meeting up every week to make a new thing is just like not a slap in the face but like a kick to the dick and the fact that that's the situation makes me too sad about the former group to want to listen to the old stories. It's the freakiest way of announcing that you don't do anything anymore to your fans I've ever seen is talking about all the stuff that you used to do
@@canadaclaret Well, isn't that nice. I delivered criticism and you state that it is my job to fix the problem of having too many sponsored segments, aka ADVERTISEMENTS. Answer me this: since when did you decide to become a frontline defender for advertisers? Do you love them? And don't say listening ads is the only way to finance things as that is simply not true. You just believe when they say that ads are unavoidable, that we need to be grateful for advertisers.. That is fucking sick but also very, very common way of thinking, specially in USA where there are no limits on greed.
@@squidcaps4308 People who podcast don't generally do it for free; it's a job. Plus, there are costs associated, especially when it's professionally made. If you get the podcast for free (as opposed to a paid subscription), the downside is that it usually comes with advertisers. That's the business model.
@@Greg_Buckingham Again, the fault of having too many spoken ads is mine? That is another typical excuse, "it is free so you can't complain or criticize it". Well, my reply is also free so you can walk the fuck back when it comes to criticizing me.
