www.speakjapan...
You'll learn about Japanese phonetics, such as pronunciation, rhythm, pitch accent, intonation and so on. Those knowledge will help you sound natural when speaking Japanese.
You can also subscribe a newsletter from the link above.
Today's video tests how much you understand a normal-speed Japanese conversation in an actual situation.
I'm buying flowers at a shop in the video. After watching the short video,
you'll answer the following questions(these are included in this video as well)
1. スイートピーは、1本いくらでしたか
2. チューリップは、1本いくらでしたか
3. 私は、どうやってお店に行きましたか
4. お店の人は、「レシート」のことを、なんと言いましたか
Translation
1. How much was one sweet pea?
2. How much was one tulip?
3. How did I go to the shop?
4. What did the clerk say instead of saying "レシート"?
Here's the link to Hanakuni-san, a flower shop I bought flowers at in this video. Hanakuni is located in Kofu-city, Yamanashi prefecture.
If you have chance to visit Kofu, visit Hanakuni too!

I usually make videos about Japanese pitch accent.
Japanese is a pitch accent language, so you should try to imitate the pitch when you practice speaking! Just being aware of the difference in pitch will make you sound more natural.
This channel deals with the Kanto(Tokyo) dialect, which is also standard Japanese and is used in most textbooks and national broadcasts.

Oh right, and 一つと三つ was funny! I think it's good for us who are learning to see that even native speakers might make mistakes - to not be afraid of making mistakes 😄 (Besides, I know I make plenty of mistakes in Swedish and English too 😅)

Right! As you saw, I make mistakes when I speak Japanese and it’s not something to be ashamed of because everyone does it😁👍

@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally Hmm, I am a little bit sad. I posted two comments on this video, one long and this one that was shorter. For some reason my long has been removed, and it is not the first time my comments have been deleted 😔 Another time was to answer someone else's comment about Japanese keyboard layout for kana input (I had to write it one more time). I wonder if youtube automatically found something they thought was bad... 😮
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally 2 года назад
I didn’t know that some comments were removed…. It’s so discouraging when your comments are removed especially when you write long ones😣
@timlarsson
@timlarsson 2 года назад
@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally yeah, it's really discouraging. Both for the comment writer, but also the video creator needs comments to get more viewers on RU-vid 😮 and it didn't even contain anything weird. Maybe it was removed automatically because I wrote "jisho dot org". And I wrote it like that exactly because maybe they wouldn't like a link to the dictionary. 🤔 (On my videos, I've gotten death threats and harassments, which I have reported several times and have friends report. They didn't care at all and let the comments stay for years 😅)

Thanks for the video. This was a nice challenge for me. I could hear the first answer clearly. The second was a little harder for me to hear and I thought he said ¥210. I listened a few times and finally heard you say you walked. The fourth was too hard for me to hear, even when I heard the answer. Again, loved the video and the challenge of listening, something I really need to practice.

Thank you, that was really fun! I got the first one correct, which is more than I thought I'd get :) It must have taken such a long time to add those subtitles. I really appreciate it. By the way, is it not common to pay with contactless cards?

Yes, I spent so much time adding subtitles, so thank you for saying it. And I think it depends on where you pay. If it's a private owned small shop, maybe you can't pay with contactless cards.

"Sanbon" instead of "san"..hmmm I wonder if you've ever seen the videos of Steve Kauffman, the polyglot ( including Japanese). I think an interview with him would be fantastic, especially since both of you are fluent in English and Japanese. He has been inteviewed by a number of Japanese You-Tubers, and they're always interesting.. Arigato!

スイートピーは「一本、二本」で数えますけれど、チューリップは「一輪、二輪」で数えると思っていたんですが、違いますか。
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally 2 года назад
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally
@SpeakJapaneseNaturally 2 года назад
「輪」 is for big flowers, so you're right. However, when they sell flowers at a shop, the price is decided per stem, regardless of how many flowers are on them. So at flower shops, we usually use the counter for stem茎, 「一本、二本」for all flowers. Of course, a tulip stem has one tulip flower, so you can use 輪 for tulip if you're focusing on its flower.

@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally I have a rather silly question: I know you greet each other with 'konnichiwa' here, but if you're quickly buying something from a konbini or similar, is that the greeting you use when you go to the register?
