I saw It Bites when they just released this album 'Once Around the World' live. I was like 17 years old and an aspiring bass guitar player myself. I was blown away and an insta lover. The level of control and melody, the amazing guitar work and insane voice of Francis Dunnery. IMO they played prog rock before that word even existed. Not to mention the insanly clever and engaging lyrics. Francis was not afraid to tackle any topic, ranging from social, political commentary to even religion (You'll Never go to Heaven)

This is their best album and the title track is a brilliant epic. Have cited Yes and Genesis amongst their influences and lead singer/guitarist Francis has worked with Steve Hackett amongst others since leaving the band. I got into them when I saw them supporting Go West at Hammersmith just before their first album came out. Went to the gig with my wife as she was a Go West fan at the time and I was one of the few mesmerised by the support band. Enjoyed them much more than Go West and saw them a couple of times after that over the next few years

@@gregjones861 I would say that there is an Allan Holdsworth influence (Francis has name checked him), particularly in the fast legato sections. But otherwise I agree. He always sounded ultra modern and progressive, except during his tenure with Robert Plant, which I suppose demanded a more bluesy feel, in keeping with Robert’s style.

I must have seen It Bites about 6 times both with Frank Dunnery and John Mitchel. This was always one of their most epic live songs. They were an incredible live band. It's not often mentioned but Frank did audition for Genesis in 1995 after Collins left. On his Wiki page he said he knew he wouldn't get the job, but accepted the invite to audition because he just wanted the chance to sing The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in the bands own studio. He said it all went very well, but ultimately Ray Wilson got the job. He also said - rather immodestly - that he felt he was more creative than Genesis were at that time and that would annoy Tony Banks, and as a song writer he wouldn't back down to them, Lol!

Cumbrian band, mostly from Egremont. West Cumbria. Francis Dunnery is a guitar hero. Driving a Fender Strat he's also got a tremendous voice. Dinner left the band and was replaced by John Mitchell. For me, the band are utterly amazing. Bob Dalton (drums) absolutely unreal on the off beat. I have to this day no idea how he does it. Great choice.

They were very melodic prog on their first two albums back in the mid 70's. The debut is one of my top fav albums of all time. But the second one- 'Somewhere I've Never Travelled', is no slouch, either. Hope you investigate and react to them sometime. Cheers! Terry K. 🙂

Good evening Jim, Know the bands name and that’s it, as far as I can remember 👴🏼. Very eighties indeed; nothing wrong with that decade. The eighties bands I like include a lot of synth-pop bands. This band doesn’t belong to that genre, this is (pop)rock music. Very playful mid part of this song and the song keeps getting better. It’s good music but does it standout enough for me to buy it? I’m in doubt and that’s positive. I don’t reject them at once. I need to hear more of this band.

OK, a bit serious/intense tho? In the day, bought their albums... Cannot recognise the sleeve art so went found the CD. Yep, the same (old age forgetfulness most like) - and on it was a price sticker, £10.75. About £28 for the CD nowadays. The CD disc looks perfect (I've had 2 pressings of Full Moon Fever CD split on me; also 1988).
