Sooooooooo Diana is about the fans actually, like in the verse "I speak a different language but I still hear your call" the part of "front pages of your pictures, they make you look so small" I feel like is more about actual fan pictures. And there was/is a lot fans that suffer of depression, and doesn't have very supportive parents and relatives, so this was for them too "if I could would ya swear I would never put you down". Don't forget were you belong is song written by Niall for the fans too. So a lot of love for us, and that is one of the reasons why I still a directioner 💜💜

let's go to some facts about this album: Louis "fired" the guy who made the songs for them, he was not so comfortable with the fully pop sound anymore, and decided to start writing more for the band, so much that most songs on the album Louis and Liam wrote. Louis has a lot of pop rock and britpop influences (oasis fan, AM and a few more) so he tried to put some of that on the album. Louis said in an interview already, that as he had few solos in the band, he would dedicate himself to writing, and thus he became the greatest composer of 1D. (curiosity: Louis was the richest in the band, he lost that post because of all the donations to charity he ever made).

Liam recently told us that he got the idea for better than words when he was high and they named the song better than words cause that was the only lyric not a song title. He and Louis co wrote the entire song. So the chorus is harry and others because the others are in the backing for first part and normal for others.

I’m not gatekeeping in the least, we’re always accepting new members into the 1D fandom to join the sadness and waiting but I feel like you should do your research. Like there’s so much that has happened in these 10 years. So many inside jokes that make the albums feel more personal. And the 1D fandom is legendary. We leaked albums, we know blood types and birth times and even hacked security cameras! I feel like the nuances can be lost on you if you didn’t go through all of what we did. Also if you remember the video diaries from xfactor and beyond you qualify for a veteran discount in the 1D fandom.

The fandom always had their theories on Diana. Some assumed it was about princess Diana. “The front pages are your pictures. They make you look so small. How could someone not miss you at all?” And then a lot of people assumed they were talking to fans going through depression, so like in a way we can relate and know that there was someone out there who loved them.

fun fact: They were pretty high when making better than words, and Liam got the idea (on the toilet) to make a song with just titles of other songs...so thats what they did. They said if they couldn't remember it the next day then it wasn't worth remembering.
