最後の来日となったウィーンフィルとの日本公演の最終日のサントリーホール。この日は確かあの巨人中日の⒑8名古屋決戦と同日だったと思います。ショルティーの威厳に満ちた佇まい、鳴り止まぬ拍手、初めて見るスタンディングオベーション。かつてカラヤンが日本に来たときに、演奏会の当日にたまたま遊びに来た恩師に、なけなしのチケットを譲った心優しき今は亡き父に、少しだけ親孝行ができた夜を思い出しました😂。

Solti s tenure as conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra was absolutely amazing. I used to buy on vinyl records all of his recordings with that marvellous Orchestra of the Mahler Symphonies

What a performance! I've been looking for this rendition for a long time as it matches the first time I heard it watching the original Flash Gordon serials in the 1940...

I great performance! I think something we can all appreciate is that Solti and the orchestra took and played Les Preludes seriously. They didn't just dash it off as a popular work. Thanks for posting this video record. Great conductor, great orchestra!

Frederick Nietzsche the philosopher said that life without music would be a mistake. Another quote from ??? "Music is what makes gods of men" I remember this piece from the first Flash Gordon tv series in the 1950's when I was a child, which pretty much dates me. This version is amazing

Grande Solti !!

There is so much tenderness and care in Solti's conducting. What is beautiful man he is! And the sound blossoms like a flower, and the breaks and rests are like an infant's yawn. The master leads with crisp tempo and thorough control of the orchestra that does not seem forced at all. The sound is together and cogent. But there is still motion forward and life to it. It is a sort of performance that will not make you cry but make you smile and happy.

Sublime.

This performance by Solti with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is awesome! It is a pity, however, that the CD he recorded with the London Philharmonic does not have this "POWER".
