Mi piace la direzione del maestro Muti, che è sempre molto aderente alla partitura, una lettura attenta, meticolosa, scrupolosa e consapevole che non lascia mai nulla al caso, non trascura alcun dettaglio, non aggiunge né toglie nulla a quanto è già stato sufficientemente indicato dall'autore, realizzando un'interpretazione raffinata che riflette un grande pensiero orchestrale ed una grande sensibilità musicale, trasmettendo forti sensazioni.
Quando ero un bambino molto piccolo questa era la sigla di una trasmissione televisiva, mi sembra almanacco, la parte finale veniva usata come colonna sonora di un video con l'assalto dei garibaldini a Calatafimini seguita da un'eclisse di sole. La ricordo come ieri. È stato quando me ne so innamorato vedere e sentire, questa è musica.
Io ho avuto la fortuna di ascoltare questa capolavoro di Liszt dal vivo, diretta da Maestro Riccardo Muti, con la Philharmonia Orchestra. É stata a Budapest nel marzo 2007. Bellissimo ricordo :)
Per trent'anni consideravo l'edizione con i Berliner diretti da HvK la più vicina al mio gusto musicale. Questa ha una dimensione romantica (stile e colore) che mi ha impressionato. I poemi sinfonici, secondo me, devono essere così. Great performance!!! Really exciting ... I hope to find the edition in CD ... vinyl would be the best!!!
Muti ha reso perfettamente l'ispirazione wagneriana-teutonica di quest'ottima composizione di Liszt, che però nulla ha della sua vera personalità artistica. Fu piuttosto un omaggio reso al suo grande genero Wagner, e pure la dimostrazione che anche un ungherese può essere, o sa essere in modo credibile, veramente wagneriano.

For me this magestic music represents the struggle itself, - the struggle as a crucial battle (such as the great Greek-Persian wars in the age of Pericles) and can mean our everyday struggles for living, and also the all times stuggles in a universal meaning. Excellence performance with Riccardo Muti !
No, I disagree. And, Maestro Muti doesn't bring out all the supporting voices available in the piece. As a result, the overall performance seems less fully integrated among the orchestra's available sounds. I'm disappointed. His tempi are just a tad too slow. Check out Furtwangler's recording from 1954. You can hear everything. And, although he starts out a "tad too fast", it just keeps growing on you. I had a few tears welling up at the end and didn't expect that! ...... And, which all shows how great Liszt's composition really is - it can be played well in a variety of interpretations. LOVE IT!
@@oleflogger6828 Agree, the beginning is too slow. And the ending sounds too much like a military march. I like Kurt Masur's version with Gewandhaus, don't recall from which year.

È il più grande tributo di Liszt reso al suo grande genero WAGNER ( sposò sua figlia Cosima Liszt). I Preludi sono un pezzo di lirica wagneriana al cento per cento, soprattutto l'inizio ed il finale molto imponenti, chiaramente "teutonici"

Have you heard the New York Philharmonic Orchestra play this with Zubin Mehta conducting? I like it the best. But whatever orchestra played this for the Flash Gordon serial of the 1930's has every other orchestra beat....Some parts of this Muti version are too slow if he had recorded this version for Flash Gordon....It had to be more dramatic in those fight scenes, so I guess the music had to be a little faster.
A truly wonderful composition, which, in my opinion, lends itself well to various interpretations. Solti, Gergiev, Thielemann ... all of them are outstanding, and I am glad, that I don't have to make a final decision, which is the "best". In fact I find myself ... depending on my current state of mind ... shifting my preference. Right now, at this very moment, nothing could be more beautiful, than listening to Riccardo Muti's fabulous rendition, conducting Wiener Philharmoniker ... ah-h-h-h. Thank God for the abundance of glorious music and their musicians :o)
I have just one (major) problem with this redention. The composer Is Listz not Gluck ... i.e. this Is ROMANTIC music, not neoclassical one. If the only recording available of Lists's Preludes would have been this one, do you seriously can imagine Nizis would have used It as a soundtrack for the Barbarossa operation?? In my opinion the best redention of this piece Is the New York Philarmonic under Mitropoulos.
