You're right, it's one of Liszt's very finest works. If you want to hear a totally wild interpretation of this wild composition, full of the terror, horror and beauty of the Day of Judgement, listen to the live solo version by John Ogdon from Butler University on RU-vid, it's stunningly brilliant and truly equal to the original frescos by Orcagna.

Brilliant technique by Chamayou and very solid performance by this Radio-Orchestra. Unfortunately without any dynamics and emotions. A rather uninspiring interpretation. There are many better examples here on RU-vid where you can literally feel death's grip on your neck. Totentanz is one of the gems of classical music, but in order to show it's true beauty it needs true artists just like a diamond needs gifted cutters.
