Over the years I have watched 6 conductors on this symphony. I have liked Ariane Matiakh's presentation best. there are particular highlights in the play that touch deeply. I have liked the camera which points where such emphasis are. I love this.
Observe how few people are in the audience! Is this had been a performance of Beethoven's Fifth it would've been overflowing. Hardly anyone appreciates 20th century composers. Few are even aware of them.
The opening of the 3rd movement is very memorable. It got stuck in my head and I didn't remember the piece, but I knew I had listened to this piece recently and remembered liking it, so I guessed. And I got it right!
I think that only certain pianists can interpret the Rachmaninov piano concertos, especially the second and third, with sensitivity and empathy.... all the others play well, correctly, even artistically. ...Ich finde: Die Rachmaninow-Klavierkonzerte, besonders das zweite und dritte können nur gewisse Pianisten empfindsam und nachempfindend interpretieren.... alle andern spielen artig, korrekt, sogar artistisch.
Beautiful ❤️ Venus and Jupiter area are my favourites Stunning and very relaxing tho listening to Jupiter I can’t help but think of “I vow to the my country “ gives me goosebumps 🌟🌟🌟😍

15:20 My favorite moment of this piece. To me, it represents finally reaching the isle, stepping out of the boat, and setting foot into the dark unknown that is the Isle of the Dead. Rachmaninoff was such a master of musical suspense and buildup 😍😍
I have just been to the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig in Germany and after having the pleasure to hear Alpensinfonie from Richard Strauss, I am convinced that no video will ever be able to reproduce such a sound as if you were there live.
