Looks like a versatile machine with a lot of added accessories. Thanks for the review Amy & Eric. Cheers! Would be great if you eventually demonstrate the past maker accessories.

I just got mine today, that I've been so exited waiting for! Unfortunately, they don't provide a user manual for it. Neither in the box nor on the website. They should have it pdf. like most other companies do. There are so many pieces. What does what? How to assemble and clean. I'm kind of anxious to start sausage making! (o:

B+ I give it an A- I like this one but to many unknowns as to longevity. I guess the warranty maybe mentioned will tell the the tale.. This is a contender in the market no doubt..
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 7 лет назад
Thank you for watching. The longevity is an unknown in many mixers these days. We saw the first Sunbeam die on the challenge. Luckily the second one did OK. I think with these mixers, if you don't abuse them, they should last a while. The question is how does someone plan on using it?
@rod22lt

A feature I would love to see added to stand mixers is an LED work bowl light.
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 7 лет назад
LED worklight bowl? That's an interesting request. Kinda like the first time I bought a router had one of them things to light up the wood I was carving. I guess you'd like to see what you're mixing?
@rod22lt
@rod22lt 7 лет назад
Yeah...my aunt had a sunbeam mixmaster in the early 80's that was a special edition and it had a bowl light. I used it and it was actually quite useful to light up the ingredients being mixed. Search google images to see it.
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 7 лет назад
Yeah, I was just looking at one on eBay. That's kinda neat. Too bad they don't do that anymore. LEDs are a lot smaller and brighter than old school light bulbs.

I remember the Sunbeam ones with the light. Oxo is actually making a hand mixer with a down light right now. There are getting to be so many stand mixer brands again now I bet someone will pick the idea up again.

Thanks for testing this out. I bought this refurbished on Amazon, has some slight "dings" but nothing that diminishes its performance. It was missing its manual so I saw your video came up while on their site and it helped me get the idea of how to use the features a bit better. Hope that mango margarita was delicious!

Yeah we kinda messed with people by filming this backwards by doing the middle part first with the old cook top and finishing up the beginning and end with the new cook-top. LOL! It works nice on one hand that our pans are now level, but it is the usual bear to keep clean and worried to mess it up.

Looks pretty good, especially with all the added accessories. Just bough a new KA stand mixer, but if I need a second unit, I'd consider this. The motor mechanism sounds pretty smooth in operation. Having a plastic housing is my only concern, but for light tasks, it seems to be a good buy.

Thanks for the review. i was on Amazon looking up refurb Kitchenaids. I really want a copper one, but what a fantastic value the Litchi is! Super Impressed with the way the blender attachment handled those large pieces of ice! As a multi-functioning product, it would have been easy to get away with skimping on the functionality of some of the attachments. Says a lot for them to have tried to do them all well! Impressive!

Amy, thanks for your reply. I started watching your reviews on Kitchen Aid stand mixers as I was looking to purchase a 7quart commercial Kitchen Aid, which I have now done and found your reviews very informative and helpful. I live in Australia and there don't seem to be any Australian reviews on the mixer, so thank you for your good honest basic reviews.

Thanks for watching Raymond!! I hear KA mixers are very expensive over in Australia. Have you tried the Breville? I have one but it is a smaller model because the U.S. is on 110 volts instead of 220 so a lot of our small appliances have less watts.

Ordered mine, it came with a cracked frame, and a shards of sharp plastic from a cover that was supposed to mount on top of the bowl. Didnt come with an instruction manual either. Dont go for the 5 in 1s. Sometimes it's just better to purchase quality equipment separately.

This is actually pretty cool! Given the design, the blender and etc. I'm thinking Kenwood had a hand in this. I haven't looked but if it's a reasonable price it will be great for someone starting up since you get a lot with it. It did not unduly fuss with anything! Loving the cooktop! The cooktop was kinda funny. We filmed the middle of the video first and then the cooktop got installed, and we were like "oh no!!" They are gonna notice. So good on you for noticing!!! LOL!!!! We sometimes do things on purpose to see if our viewers catch it (mostly background things we try to sneak in there). Now we have to be careful with the cooktop. OMG, Eric makes me laugh. It's fun watching you two interact as well. You both did a great job on your testing. I love how thorough your reviews are. How'd the pizza turn out? Was the dough the way you wanted it? I'm also curious on how well the mixer would make pasta. It seems different from the kitchen aid attachment. If you are pasta fans, I highly recommend the Philips pasta maker.

Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. Can't tell you about the dough. Ate the pizza too fast to remember. Amy's got the KA pasta roller thing that has like 7 different noodles it can make. So that would be interesting to use and compare.

Great video! that Margarita looked just right! For what it is, I think it's a fine mixer, but that splash guard looks like it'd drive me crazy, lol, opening looks too small, feels like I'd make a mess. plus not a big fan of the plastic housing and parts. I really like that the blender is glass!! Wish my Vitamix had a glass option! I can't afford as many mixers as you Amy, but I may get this one, for my nieces and nephews to use while here, I am crazy possessive and protective of my beautiful Ank, lol. Can't wait for the Bosch Universal and Ank face off. Eric as always, love your cameos, you can make me and Amy margaritas anytime, lol.
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 7 лет назад
You know. A mixer may be functional and do it's basic job. But then things can get in the way. Hate to talk crap about them because some people like those things. I don't care for ANY splash guard. I just wear goggles and I'm good. right? Yeah, the glass blender is good. It made Amy happy, so that's all that matters. Yeah, my Vitamix is over 2 years old and showing its age. I need to learn how to sharpen the blades and clean it up better. Well, Amy's stopped buying mixers once they started getting donated to us. That's a plus. but we still have TOO many of them. Bosch is a PITA. I have nothing against it, but it clearly is no Kitchenaid. Not a bad thing, but certainly a learning curve. Different doughs act differently in it. No problem with the KA. It has two modes. Work and Ashes to Ashes Dust to Dust modes. Luckily, we've avoided the latter mode, but only a matter of time. As for the Ank, it's pretty and functional, but also learning curve. So we'll see. At least Amy is trying them. Hate to do either a dis-service by not knowing how they work and by only using one recipe that obviously, the Bosch doesn't care for. But then it didn't like Julia Childs' recipe either. So that's worth something???Ank had no problem with Amy's dough. So not much of a showdown.....ooops....We'll have to find a way to make it entertaining. Ya'll have waited long enough. LOL!!!
@cnnw3929
@cnnw3929 7 лет назад
And this is part of why I would like to see someone do an honest review on the Bosch, to test similar recipes against the KitchenAid so the rest of us can see the true colors of this machine, the Bosch Universal. I have read so many glowing reports on the Bosch. Too many, in fact. The raves I have read about the Bosch make me feel that the stories are just too good to be true. And I bet I am right. Maybe the reviewers weren't being totally honest with themselves because they want to feel confident with the investments they have made. None the less, I have read at least ONE report with a dissenting view, stating that the Bosch works for the recipes in the book and requires a special protein in order to work properly. The writer referred to it as "The Bosch System". I'm not sure if you've heard of that, Eric. But enlighten us if you can, if you have any more information. I am under the belief that the Bosch is NOT a miracle machine like people want to believe. I also believe that the KitchenAid Commercial 8 is FAR superior to the Bosh, and is also highly competitive with the Ankarsrum; especially for smaller batches, which is what most people do in a typical baking session. Also: I edited this for better clarification and simplicity. Thanks so much for the information you offer, Eric. It truly helps!
@feliciaharris7372
@feliciaharris7372 7 лет назад
LOL, HA😂 love the goggle idea, I hate those splash guards too, more of a PITA than a help! Amy and you are some lucky duckies with the donated products, wish I could get someone to donate me some new mixers and a new kitchen, lol. Noooo, don't say the Bosch is a PITA, you know I have the universal and just got the Ank, both unused as of yet because I'm a big ol' chicken and I'm waiting for Amy's video. Also Faye got me some Einkorn wheat berries and from what I understand, there's a serious learning curve. wonder if I could convince Amy to do a video with them if I sent her some 😊

Eric so now you've got me pondering just biting the bullet and getting a KA despite all the negatives I've heard and with my luck I'd get the ashes to ashes model, lls. Amy says they're discontinuing the Pro 500, wonder if I can find one in red at a reduced price.
@EricLearnstoCook

Thanks for watching and your comments. There are people that don't want to spend $$$ for a mixer, so these things have a niche. The question is to find one that works and will do what you want. May not be as flashy as others. May clunk a little bit more when lifting and closing, but you saw what the Sunbeam did in that first video and even the second one wasn't too pretty. Adding a blender for margaritas is always a plus in my book. :-)

Great review Amy and Eric. I looked at it on Amazon. It is very reasonably priced but....a 2 yr warranty just doesn't give me enough confidence in this product to spend the amount of money they want. It is enticing though. TFS and taking the time to demo.
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 7 лет назад
Thanks for watching. That's a longer warranty than most appliances get these days. I would hope it would last if it isn't abused. The main thing with this mixer is the added parts. If not needed, then the cheaper, simpler one would be competitive with the Hamilton Beach. Then it's just a price war at that point.

I have a bread machine dinner roll recipe that could be done in a stand mixer. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HyqMpnXta5U.html

How is 2 A and 1 B = B- B- would start around 82% A would = at least 96% B would = at least 86% It would total a A- 92% or at least a B Just saying. but great video overall.

Thanks David for watching. Amy's a hard grader, if you didn't know. So anything under an A really hurts. A "B" from her is really a kiss of death. A "C" means you shouldn't buy it. I'm guessing the plastic and clunkiness means you should buy elsewhere, unless you love it and it's in your price range. The Farberware mixer is cheaper and does a good job (but is a bit ugly too).
