They did indeed abandon Kratos, which is why I found his relationship with Pandora in III so interesting. Of all the people he ran into in these games, she was the only one he didn't go out of his way to exploit or betray. In fact, one of his biggest mistakes was doing what he thought was the right to help her.

first of all the brothers name is deimos, second, their are several holes in your story "PEOPLE" did not "STEAL" deimos he was taken PRISONER by athena and aries on zuess' order's because he feared the prophecy that predicted the downfall of zuess and olympus at the hands of a marked warrior and at the time only deimos had markings so he was taken, also kratos didn't tattoo his body out of rage or anything of that nature, all though it was never actually stated it can be safely assumed that it was more out of memoriam of his brother who he believed dead, and the biggest hole in your story which has me questioning whether you have actually played this game (or just ignorantly skipped all cut scene's) is that you stated he killed his wife and child accidentally in rage after finding his brother, however infact he had already killed his family when he discovered his brother was still alive and prior to killing his family he really wasn't all that consumed by rage just determined to be a great warrior at all cost and it was that fire(and areis' trickey conniving hand) which ultimately led to the slaying of his family and his unquenchable thirst for vengeance against the god's who abandoned him
