Holy shit you’re right. My old boss was jim polson of Jim’s mobile yacht repair in Florida, that man taught me so much, and even would send me home with homework and training books from when he was a master mechanic back in his day. He was passing his business down to me, too bad I had to move across country. Good man.

The patience this guy has is astounding! I'm telling you right now, this is the type of guy that you want doing work on your own car. I really hope Magnum understands the resource they have here. Having been a manager many times in my life, I've always said that the ability to do a job good is a valuable. However, to both be able to do the job well and then teach the job to others is immensely more valuable.

Mike is clearly a great teacher. I knew not a damn thing before these videos with him and now...I at least understand the process. Awesome he was willing to take the time and be a part of the videos. Im sure he didn't have to do that, but did it anyway. If I had a car worth a damn, I'd take it to him.

The wire distance with a mig welder doesn't really change the weld temp. The voltage is set and the welder will pull more amps the further you get away. It compensates for the increase in resistance to maintain wire burn off. If anything the weld gets colder being further away. Stick and tig will get hotter as your distance increases

Oh no! I just stopped by their shop to get a similar repair done on my truck and I was slammed with a $15k starting price for a side bed panel that needs replaced, corner cab replace, and a small but long dent on the door. The conversation lasted 2 minutes with one of the guys at Magnum. I love the work but I have to go somewhere else 😔

If you want to see more of this kind of repair, check out Vehcor. He rebuilds cars for a living and makes a video of what he's working on every Friday, but he shows a lot of this kind of work when he has to do panel replacement. Maybe not quite as in depth, but he shows a lot of it

Bro I should take him my mustang, the driver side rocker was smashed into by yours truly lol 4 years ago, the shop that I cheaply hired straightened the unibody rocker frame as much as they could, still a bit crooked and obviously cheap fixed with thick bondo, so I’m gonna redo that part and put a new one on, might have to do it in the future, gonna restore it anyway

safety first but no gloves :) I do that all the time. filter for breathing, gloves, eye protection are all needed or your gonna take a chance on all this.
