At 9th Fort you can go to a museum which takes you to the underground where you can actually see things related both to Soviet atrocities and the Nazi genocide. I felt really bad about your travelling situation with all the snow and tram pushing!

It was uneasy to watch you struggle using prams during snowy winter. Wheels are not made for snow, you should have used sleds :D Also you can checkout taxi or short-term car rental options, i think it could be cheaper than you might think. The bridge you were standing on was never on any border. It was opened in 1948 under illegal rule by russian occupation government and since then it was in a middle of a city. But part of the river Nemunas (about 100 km downstream) was border between Russian and Prussian Empires (at the time when calendars where 13 days apart) and now the same border divides Lithuania and territory of Kaliningrad that (for some unknown reasons) belongs to Russia. BTW it's one of the oldest existing borders in the World. It was established in 1422 as a border between Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Teutonic Knights Order.

Used to ride Alexoto funicular railway every morning to the kindergarten that was at the top. And yeah, snow can get really annoying here. Especially with weather changes snowing + warm days = wet snow if it gets cold at night you get ice everywhere and if its warm again next its wet ice which is super slipery. IDK, maybe its just me but i really hate that kind of wealth, thought fresh snow do look pretty. Also if you get a chance, you should check Lithuania in summer, cities are really green and vibrant and give entirely different vibes.

I want to visit Kaunas one day. I don't care if it's country Lithuania is close to Russia. It's still going to be my new destination.
