"Per Vilniaus miestą" is a Lithuanian march about the army passing through Vilnius.

For once, a march of ours that's pretty good. There are a few other good ones but only a very old and crappy recording is available online. It's a shame that they don't release any recordings like the germans who used to pump out entire vinyls.

Fun fact: Lithuania was the first country to secede from the USSR in March 11, 1990 It's the only baltic state to completely abandon russian military traditions. Estonia and Latvia still march in goose step however, they're reserved for honour guards.

West style 'civilized' march style except for Soviet arm swing and side to side rocking as they march. guess they had enough of Russian influence but could not leave influence entirely. same as Br. colonies. mother's influence remains after independence. Lithuania is doing very well on its own, thank you, without Russia.

The arm swing was there since 1918 when the independence was declared. It was most likely an inspiration taken from the Germans as they did that almost identically, but I'm not sure. Fact of the matter is that it's not soviet. We had military traditions long before soviet union even existed

Well, Russians march in Prussian style, if that matters, actually they outdone the inventors of the Goose step... Btw, somehow Lithuanian faces look very Russian to me, probably they have a strong genetic connection over there.

Not gonna lie, this march kind of sucks. I'm not saying they have to be like the North Koreans or anything but Tajikistan really knows how to march. Tajiki marches are nice but not over the top
