Had to make another comment ,we do love Diana. She is such a lovely person. Listening to her is like home. She has the sense of humour like my mother. My mother was a tireless worker and so is Diana. Great job! I wish I had a Diana! 😁 ❤ I have to hire out every little thing and it's random when they show up. Usually when they need money. I thought it would be easier to get help when I moved to town but it isn't .

I used those mixing tubs as litter boxes years ago when I had a house full of cats! And, I’m having those fruit flies, too. You’d think they’d burn up in the Texas heat.

I used to think that fruit flies were due to unclean conditions until I moved to Missouri and learned that they are just everywhere in the summer no matter what. Honestly, they aren't normal if they don't burn up in Texas. Lol

Kim, you did a great job cleaning up! I appreciate you showing the " before". All of us multi kitty households know how messy our little darlins can be at times. You're such a smart young lady. Great and economical idea with the cement mix trays. You may have to make that potty area behind the dryer totally unaccessible to the babies for a while. Because even though you used bleach which is a great disinfectant, they may still be able to smell their potty smell there and continue to go there. I just love Diana's wry sense of humor. You girls personalities really complement one another! Love ❤ and blessings to you all.😊

So far they are doing great with the new boxes. I'm keeping an eye on that area and may have to take your advice if bad behaviors come back. Thanks for the support. Diana is amazing and I would be lost without her.

It looks great, Kim! For fruit flies or gnats, I’d recommend food grade diatomaceous earth. If you sprinkle a little bit in the litter box it acts as a natural and safe method of eliminating bugs while having the added benefit of deodorizing the litter box. I usually get a large bag at Tractor Supply, Amazon, or whichever store has the best deal. The food grade kind is often in the pet section. I also use empty cat food cans or small containers that can be hidden to make fruit fly/gnat traps by adding white vinegar to the clean container (just enough to fill the bottom half an inch) and then add two drops of Dawn dish soap. Just those two ingredients and you will have a homemade fruit fly & gnat trap. I’ve also put plastic wrap over top of the opening and poked holes in the top if I was worried a cat might try to mess with them. I hope these ideas might help you as well. It is also a battle here, but these methods have made a huge difference. ❤

I've had lots of trouble with fruit flies in the past and they continue every spring. No amount of cleaning seems to help! I suggested the sticky fly strips before and I still suggest some as long as you put them up high in the window and also mirrors work. The Flies are attracted to the windows and mirrors and they keep bouncing around until they get stuck. I also put them outside some of the windows so that I catch them before they can fly in.

This video really took me back to when I had 11 cats and we closed in our carport for them. Cleaning that room and changing out litter boxes was a chore but so rewarding to see a scrubbed clean floor!❤

Ever have an issue with ants there? Only at the end of the ants gathering season when they are working overtime because they are running out of time, they will come into to get the stuff where the kitties might hit the side of the litter box. I have not had any ant issues here. Just the stupid fruit Flys. Lol. Diana is amazing, I agree. I am very lucky to have her as a friend.

Changing litter boxes is something that worries me about the future. I buy the pine litter in 40 lb bags. I have a hand truck that climbs stairs to bring it in. However there are three boxes that have to be picked up and then emptied into in my case the compost recycling (i scope out the feces). When my back and right leg are acting up that is hard. As I get older I worry!

Hi cat lady here , boy your lucky 8 of my fur babies will not use a dirty litter that some else has used. I have now 30 litters because after stinky Salem and Bono have used it no-one else will lol. I clean litters of poop and wee twice a day . Scrub out every Saturday and if it needs it before . I have a litter in one bathroom for Charlie she hates to be watched . I have seen a lot worse. You and Diana are doing a great job at keeping all of it up ! I laughed so hard at Oswalt on Diana's back . Plus Homie Depot !! My Buster Brown started to play yesterday and today.

Kim, what did you say you put in boxes before the pine pellets? Also, is the pine odor mild? I know some kitties are picky with smells

It's called PDZ. I get it at TSC for about $12.50 per 25 pound bag and it last a long time. The pine pellet smell is very mild and when used with the PDZ, it's almost non-existent. Hope this helps.
