D reminds me so much of a pony that I leased until just a week ago, he is 23 and is in such a good shape. Always wants to canter! He gave me so much courage, he got sold a week ago. I miss him so much, but thankfully he is in a good home

OMG THAT WAS SOOO LONG AGO LOL i saw u there at ironmasters ( brightling) lol i was there riding and straight away regonised u 😂 that tunnel also caused us problems 😂 lol some things i still remember! hope u had fun!!!!!!! i was that big blue horse truck that u can see near the end :)

Luckily nothing bad happened though! I feel like some people forget how quickly this can go wrong. (Essay warning right here) My mom was on a trail ride on a fjord (with me and several other riders, she was riding at the back of the line - we were riding single file) and there was sort of a part of the route that was just long, somewhat wide compared to the rest, hard, solid earth and very flat. It was the stretch we always galloped. So like horses do they go into an extended canter / a gallop depending on the horse nd all. This was a week or two after the horses came back from winter break during which they were hardly ridden so they had a lot of pent up energy. Now the fjord my mother was riding was quite stubborn but usually rather calm. My mother is a decent rider, but she doesn’t ride regularly (we’d done a few easier trail rides the week before to sorta get used to it again) and so doesn’t have super duper much experience in the gallop. Since it was extended canter / gallop we did smth that’s called “leichter Sitz” in Germany, not sure what it’s called in English - the thing where you sorta stand up in the stirrups, bend forward a bit and put your hands next to the horse’s neck. Now getting to the actual story. We started galloping, everything seemed great. My mother’s horse started bucking (not the extreme kind of bucking, but still bucking) I didn’t exactly see what happened because my mother was riding behind me, but I assume she was bent forward too much which is why the horse still managed to buck her off. She fell onto the end of her vertebrae (forgot the term). Horse luckily didn’t trample her. We all came to a stop as fast as we could. My mother, being the stubborn woman she is, tried to stop her horse which was trotting in our direction while still laying on the ground. I turned my horse so it would block her horse’s path and told her to let go and just keep sitting/laying. She did let go, I caught the rein of her horse and managed to stop it. My mother though, was already getting up even though I was repeatedly telling her to keep sitting on the ground. She *still* got up. Could not convince her to sit somewhere and answer our questions to see wether she’d taken any damage to the brain/head (even though she didn’t hit her head, the shock from hitting the vertebrae could still damage it slightly). She led her horse for a bit, then finally acknowledged it probably wasn’t a great idea to get back up and called my father to pick her up. I led her horse back to the stables. We ended up finding out that she had 4 bone breaks and a damaged shoulder (broke her hip bone in 3 different places and another bone around the hip area. Her spine was just fine though, surprisingly. Her shoulder was damaged to because it popped out for a second when she tried to stop her horse before popping back in.). Moral of this very long story (sorry bout that): if you fall off, swallow your pride, and keep sitting there until you’re certain you’re good to go.
