As a grown man, when I heard Matt's voice I got a little more excited than I'd like to admit

Yeah! Matt O'Dowd! Talk about a brilliant guy who doesn't seem to caught up with an ego (I mean the guy doesn't even feel the need to spray his name out there on his channel). Total nerd hero.

_Little Black Holes Everywhere_ ...Wasn't that a song back in the 80s by John Cougar?

I'm a (paying) member/supporter of RadioLab, so it's a given that I almost always (at MINIMUM) like the episodes. I'm here solely to vent about the absolute disdain & disappointment I'm feeling for this episode... for its producers, its reporters/presenters, etc. As a former News Director who also had to produce & host a live call-in show every weekday morning, I feel like I have a really good understanding of what should/should not be aired within this type of show. (I say I HAD to produce the call-in talkshow bc I didn't WANT to, but it's what the GM desired so I complied for a time. I, rightly, felt there were too many ongoing potentials for CONFLICTS OF INTEREST to occur, and JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY was EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ME. Do I need to keep writing? Is my eventual point not already glaringly obvious? HOW/WHY would ANY of your HIGHLY INTELLIGENT staff members ever even CONSIDER pitching/advertising/discussing (at length) on-air, during a "standard" episode ANNNYthing your employees are selling for personal financial gain, outside/apart from RadioLab??? Because you all USUALLY act with much more common sense than this, I'll assume that I don't need to waste more of my precious time detailing all the ethical, moral, etc. etc. supporting facts for why this episode should be removed, or - if you have relevant but unused content (unused bc you wanted to make room for a commercial) & can make it work - at LEAST edit out the lengthy children's book advertisement and add the USEFUL information back in. I really love you guys. I think you do awesome work the majority of the time. However, you effed-up catastrophically on this one. The lack of oversight really baffles me. For your personal reputations & integrity, and for that of the show- PLEASE fix this episode. PLEEEEASE 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Yeah.. so we used a really flimsy excuse of a science news story that may or may not have happened to hock a cutesy childrens book? No thanks.

So glad someone else mentioned this. Now I'm 100% positive I'm not being "judgy" when I say this episode is their WORST. Very disappointed in them. Given how long they've been on the air, they should definitely know better.

I loved the book taster and it reminded me of a children’s book called ‘The Giving Tree’ Also I was reminded of the fear that the LHC could create tiny black holes that would accumulate at the earths core and settle there and basically would grow and grow until they eventually start eating the earth from the inside out. By the time we notice the first rumblings we would only have a few minutes left until we are consumed. Such a happy thought 😅

Great topic but really over edited. Gave me anxiety from all of the voice switch over and added affects. Sometimes simple is better.

Elements. I still listen to that episode every now and then. Octomom was a great one also, though. Also the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was the first episode I ever listen to and a love affair was born

@@AlaskaB83 I revisit elements as well. I don't know the Henrietta Lacks episode. I look forward to listening to in now. My first episode was the living room. It was the beautiful door that opened to ...more more beautiful doors. ❤️ Thanks for sharing with me. I'm almost done with Gonads xandy. I learn about Henrietta Lacks next. Thank you🙂
