This video was inspired by this video in terms of music and visuals. Channel - dai / @daiizd Video - Little Dark Age | Western Animation • Little Dark Age | West... to me, they had the best format for the concept
Yeah RU-vid used to be great. But there are still great RU-vidrs out there, I genuinely think that Mr beast cares about the industry he works in, and the entertainment of millions!! Although the dubble unskippable ads are bs.
RU-vidr being a very risky job is a thing that needs a large amount of courage to walk with and if someone finds the fact of them earning life security out of it as "a bad trait" you 100% want to rethink
@@SolidRaiden2655nope, RU-vid became more popular. Popular RU-vidrs didn’t even have 1M sub back then. Now obviously for this reason RU-vid “pays more” but for the same reason the content has much more variety and there’s still creativity, just more people. Nostalgia makes everything look better
as i know he's like lankybox just without all the unnatural schedules and crazy voice but combined with a know your meme style instead of absolute well yk.
Someone obviously is either too young to remember or simply forgot what it was like back then. It also wasn't an overnight change. Yes, RU-vid allowed their creators to be paid, but it took time for the greediness and censorship to set in, as is the case with every single societal change throughout history. So yes, RU-vid was better back then, we just didn't notice until now because it happened gradually until it became completely different. So you're wrong.
We were just kids when the golden age hit, and adolescent when the silver age hit, when the bronze age hit RU-vid was nye unrecognizable. We are never getting it back, no one will ever know the joy, humor, and entertainment that this site used to offer. Such a shame. God, I miss freedom on the internet.
My sister and cousins are only 5 years younger than me but they will never get to experience the internet in its purest form. They will never get to experience anything not corporate friendly. It's genuinely wild how different things have been just 5 years later. Their view on entertainment, on videos, on everything is so radically different.
I really miss the Golden Days of this pΙatform.. Old Smosh, Early PewDiePie Gameplays etc. I'm just proud that at least I experienced that Era.. Happy New Year also
old smosh was ass, the past 6 months of this smosh is ass. I think thats why courtney started her own youtube channel, might be seeing them disappear soon
I started this account on November 19th 2005 and I’ve been here since the very beginning, a very long way youtube has came. I really do miss the time when it wasn’t all for monetization and just a site you visited every few days to watch some silly videos, honestly when I think youtube went downhill was when youtubers had to become more “kid friendly” to keep ads on the videos. I don’t know if anyone else agrees with my opinion but please let me know how you feel about modern day youtube in replies, I’d love to read them!
From one oldphag to another, I salute you. I may not have made my account then, but I've been using the site as early as '07, maybe even '06. It's been a long time since RU-vid was good, but then again, it's been like that all over the Internet. At least with Musk buying Twitter, we can see a return to form of 2016 era RU-vid, and maybe even more past eras if we're lucky. The issue is when the company got politically co-opted. People more interested in pushing an agenda than making a good business just ruined it, and Susan is one of the worst among them. Maybe it was when RU-vid tried targeting kids more that RU-vid started going downhill, but when it just became another arm of the political machine is when the final nail in the coffin was hammered home. Modern RU-vid is both a blessing and curse. I watch a lot of fringe content, so I'm worried about anything happening to the channels I subscribe to, and that gives me a constant source of stress to worry about. It's frustrating, because RU-vid will target that content, but leave others exactly like it, if not worse, alone. It doesn't help the rules are so arbitrary. Content has generally gone seriously downhill, but at least through that it's encouraged me to find new and interesting things to watch, helping me grow for the better. It's all mostly mindless drivel these days, so I'm always watching something that's _different,_ something that's actually interesting. But the worst part has to be when I get a notification that my comments have infringed on the rules, even though I know I haven't done anything to break them. Even worse is the fact they don't show me what my comment was, and since I post dozens, if not close to a hundred, comments a day, I have no idea what was wrong. Reading the rules doesn't help, either. Sorry for the ramble. I write a lot for work as it is, so I can't be bothered to clean this up.
Respect. I remember when you could comment on people's channel pages and shit. Good times. What you said about content being child friendly is so true. RU-vid was super edgy back in the day, which was great from a content standpoint but there was no way you could ever imagine big name companies wanting to run ads on that shit 😂
From a community of creators and viewers to a commercialized platform with cringe yt rewind and cowardly removal of dislike button for 🐱 reasons.. 2016 was the last year of good yt
Damn those were a good time No cringe, just pure entertainment Edited: Yeah I know that cringe of those time's video were good cringe Only today's cringe are not good Sorry for bad English
I remember making animation short's on newground, and i saw a forum post about this site called youtube which not many people were interested back then, and youtube was only making 50k viewers per month. Now its one of the biggest video platform sites to ever exist. The first ever video a i saw on youtube was a videogamedunkey animation originally made on newgrounds where he would re-upload it to youtube.
@@PrinceScamza Well, the video chapters is pretty helpful. And that *"Most played part"* feature helps you skip to the main part of the video that you clicked for.
@@SyedTauhidul I'm not stupid, I'm just giving something positive. Of course there's some awful things on RU-vid right now, but there's still some good stuff on the platform, even if it's just stuff unrelated to the types of videos or problems on the platform.
I wish I could say you're right, but youtube has been hurting the good youtubers ever since going full blast on being advertiser friendly. This platform has truly gone to shit. The only reason why no one is leaving is because not in a 100 years you won't find any other platform with the same amount of creators, videos and popularity
This era may have died but there will always come a new one. RU-vid is changing but the creativity that formerly thrived here is not tied to a platform. It will find a new home or maybe it will stay on RU-vid in a different way. In the words of Yoda and Master Obi Wan. Obi Wan: “That boy was our last hope.” Yoda: “No, there is another.”
early 2010's youtube was all about having fun , love , creativity ,freedom . it was weird and beautiful. Glad i could withness and experience this era , love you all...
RWJ is back doing similar things to =3 just not named it, its not exactly the same but its as close as it can get with modern times, and his cartoon band Your favourite Martian is back making songs with an upgraded style too! Jenna just got happily married as well:) I know smosh isn't the same but they're still bringing smiles to a new age of children and I'm glad they're able to do that thanks to Rhett and Link and mythical entertainment, pewds is in his retirement years and if you want just relaxing calm videos that feel like an epilogue of so much drama but is really just a much happier new chapter of someone we all grew up with hes still uploading. Memes are algorithmic now but you can find some really fun and silly stuff along with music and groups similar to Golden age RU-vid still. Skits animations and everything have just gotten more nicer and theirs so many editing communities like this that make so much as thank yous and appreciations of times we all miss. Back then it was all so much more innocent because media wasn't really a thing being pushed and sold nonstop but it's still there it just doesn't feel as big as it once was because not everyone's talking about the same stuff anymore. I hope everyone has an amazing new year in 2023 we may be past golden silver and bronze age but this age isn't the worst it could be:) there will be bad and there will be good I'm excited to see a similar edit to this come the next 10 years I'm greatful I get to experience it with all of you as I did in the beginning of all of this:)
seeing how he made a tik tok bashing jordan peterson and andrew tate, which by the way at this point the case against him is completely collapsed....clearly he is a sellout grifting for money and views.
For someone like me who grew up on RU-vidr this hits so hard. People like smosh, leafy and cannot shaped are completely gone or just gone to shit. Leafy was attacked by dweebs, Anthony sold his soul and the plague of Fortnite. Such a shame.
They want us to forget. But I refuse. I remember the feeling. I remember what it felt like. Watching these videos back then. They want you to forget because they want to control what you know. Don’t let them. Never forget.
0:56 How to be Ninja... Good ol' times... where you were able to rate videos from 1 star to 5... But now everyone is a snowflake and wants his save space... so sick of it
Ethan Klien and Leafy belong with the modern youtubers TBH. Both of them are kanser. Can't agree with you more on the others though, and I miss TotalBiscuit, RIP.
Nah Leafy was apart of the Golden Age. He was just some edgy teen having fun while playing CSGO Surf. Ethan Klein tho is a sellout and on the same level of the SJWs he used to make fun of.
@@icommittedtaxfraudin Idubz was the true golden age chad because he defeated the grotesque Leafy who only insulted children and posted clickbait. See the content cop and you'll understand. H3H3 now collabs with SJWtubers like Hasan so while he was probably good once (wasn't the best even then, he was still worse at comedy than Idubz, Jontron, etc), he's now a regulation soyboy.
@@icommittedtaxfraudin gotta agree with @christgriffin, early youtube was great without all the edgelords, the thing that made youtube great wasn’t the “dark humor” it was the fact that people uploaded weird content for no ulterior motive other than having a laugh. Even though there are a lot of channels nowadays who do that, they are few and far between, and most of youtube is filled with the same clickbait mr. Beast clone. Edgelords like leafy were the main reason why youtube is like it is now.
@@southernstargazer2006 if you can't handle dark humor, you're a part of the problem. If those people they made videos on didn't want their feelings hurt they shouldn't have been posting on the internet to begin with. Leafyishere was literally just a teenager who we just watched to find weird and interesting people on RU-vid, no one i knew actually wanted to cyberbully anyone or ruin people's lives. It was RU-vid who used it as an excuse for obtaining absolute control over its users for soulless corporate greed
I remember when you could inbox people on youtube A time before ads A time when people used to post random/funny videos Also just posting music vids and vlogging Remember Machinima ?? And how they used to dominate RU-vid Only for them to be exposed
Now RU-vidr being a very risky job is a thing that needs a large amount of courage to walk with and if someone finds the fact of them earning life security out of it as "a bad trait" you 100% want to rethink. It is possible that i am writing this comment considering the journey of my favourite youtubers.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love what Mr Beast is doing and his content. However, you cannot deny the impact he has had on the algorithm and RU-vid as a whole. I feel like his brand nowadays is just that he has a lot of money and can do crazy things. Yeah, it’s decent content, but what happened to content with heart? His impact on many of the mainstream RU-vidrs shows, obviously not just him but he has played a big role on it. Maybe that’s not a popular opinion, but interesting to think about.
@@iplyrunescape305 to understand why mr. Beast is popular you need to understand what is Consumism, it's a phenomenon which has infected the US and europe for the past 100 years and most recently ever since the 80s, in simple terms we treat money better than family or friends, as long as you have money your life will be complete which is completely false. Either way I'm not great at explaining things, it's better you search by yourself if you actually wanna know
same here, its hard to relate to a millionaire and the upbeat tone from him is obnoxious as if he was taunting how poor your are and how rich he is@@iplyrunescape305
You can say the old content didn’t age well, but that’s not the point. The point of it is freedom, people made it because they wanted to. And not because an ai told them to.
I'm so grateful that I can remember 90% of the videos in this, save for a few. Man, I haven't thought about some of them in a long time. You don't realize you're in the good days until they're gone.
I’ve been watching RU-vid almost daily since 2012/2013. It really felt like I was growing up alongside the platform and everybody on it. The changes were gradual, but it’s like a slap to the face when you see stuff from 5+ years ago and how much of it changed since.
RU-vid now is too much about making money. Creators can't make good content without being sued. Too much marketing towards kids. RU-vid forgot youtube kids and forgot it's over 13 policy too. Cuz let's be honest no one above the age of 13 watches cocomelon
Most stupid RU-vid decision is turninv off RU-vid kids comment most animated series channel is turn off unable to write nostalgic comment Turn off dislikes button
back when youtuber or influencer wasnt really a career choice, but something of a passion, when criticism was open and youtuber cared about content rather than clicks
I miss the times where RU-vid was actually a place where anyone could upload any video they’d like, but now RU-vid’s woke, we have limits as to what we can say, and Susan has unfortunately yet to resign at this point. #WeWantTheGoodOldDaysBack
RU-vid makes a bunch of shitty changes to the site every year, some more major than others and give us like one decent change that feels like an afterthought Also why tf are they trying to make RU-vid a TikTok clone? It’s literally bigger than TikTok
Back when RU-vid was a platform for everything the Internet had to offer. I recognised almost everything in here. I'd been using YT since 2008 when I was five. First time I'd ever been on the Internet and I still remember it clearly. Of course I had to ask for permission, and my parents always kept an eye on what I was looking at. But I think I actually miss 2009/2010 YT. Everything was different then. And I'd say things started to slowly decline past 2012
I miss the time when RU-vidrs could just post stuff without fear of copyright or demonization. Now it's only for money and for the few. Also, RU-vid shorts are a disaster.
THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT RU-vid POLICIES ARE INCREASINGLY OBLIGATED EVERYTHING WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL NOW NOW THE CONTENT IS GETTING DIFFICULT AND NOW IT IS MUCH DIFFICULT TO MAKE MONEY
