Parkertown docks was a busy place around noon so plan to be out before the crowd if that's not your thing. 7 bridges is a good spot but well known by many. The sardines I got from ShopRite seemed to work as good as bunker and last about as long. I think it was actually cheaper than what I paid for bunker last time I purchased it ($1 each). Thanks! That was actually the first time I had a chance to crab there. It was always packed before so it must normally be a Hotspot. Its a shame all the other bridges have no crabbing signs.
Thank you so much for responding to me. I just love your videos and actually crab at some of the locations you have been to. I hope to one day to see you in person. Again thank you so much and keep up the great videos
@@MarigraceBrown Not a problem. I'm glad you like the videos. I have a lot of fun making them and probably would have never thought to visit any of these places before I started doing this.
Hey man, if you don't mind driving a little you should try where I go. Believe me it doesn't disappoint. woodland beach Delaware . I get at least 2 dz per trip all btwn 5 and 7 1/2 inches. You'd dig I think. All the best fellow crabber
Thanks for the tip! For now I need to stick to the Jersey area. Even going to a place as far south as Cape May can be a problem with getting the video edited and out by Monday. Maybe if I get a chance to go during a vacation day from work I can make it happen.
Hi Tony. You should try Woodland Beach Pier in Woodland Beach Delaware. IT never disappoints and they're all btwn % and 7 1/2 Inches. If you don't mind driving a little you should check it out. Best of luck fellow crabber. A.J.
That would be a long drive. Maybe someday I'll have a camper van or something and take those longer trips, but for now I'll hang around south Jersey. Thanks for letting me know about the spot though!
Nice video, thanks for making it. BTW, I assume you eat the crabs you catch. What is the favorite way you cook them. I am partial to crab spaghetti sauce. The wife and I love it’s distinctive flavor.
I do eat them and my favorite is crabs and spaghetti but I haven't been catching enough to make it lately so I've been cleaning and freezing them until I have enough to make it.
Hey Tony Dan here. That place is very busy I'm the summer. Do you think it kind of gets crabbed out? I also remember lots of vicious green heads. Were there any there? Anyway looks like you had a nice day, sorry no crabs.
Hey Dan! I guess it's possible, but from what I've read crabs don't really have homes. They just randomly wander around looking for food, mates and a comfortable environment. If they aren't there than most likely one of those three things changed. Over crabbing could happen but would work itself out quickly. People would stop crabbing there because they aren't catching anything and they would accumulate again.
I was thinking the same thing about salinity. Crabs really like it less salty (around 10ppt). Next time I go I was thinking I'll measure the specific gravity to get a better idea what I'm working with. I really should be keeping track of more data points. Things like weather, water temp, tide, salinity, current, etc.
Most of the traps just have the line that comes with the trap. I think it's 50'. The one trap I replaced the line on I just filled the kite string holder.
@@adam8sixty133 No, I've never used all the line. I suppose you might if you intend to use it as a makeshift pier net, but for normal crabbing 30 is fine.
The guy with the pickup probably parked the way he did is to discourage you and to have you leave. You entered an area where other sports and activities are happening and as unfortunate as it sounds, people in general have grown to dislike fishermen and crabbers. It’s the reason so many people run into Karens and Kens who bully and complain those who legally fish or crab. They just want us to be gone. And it affects not just private individuals fishing, but businesses as well. Proof is how the fishing and charter boat businesses were driven out of Belmar marina and what is being pressured in Point Pleasant and Brielle.
@@MsMrBigglesworth I thought it was really odd because I intentionally parked as far as I could away from the beach and recreation area so I wouldn’t bother anyone and I was the only one there when I arrived. Lol
Yep, they got ripped apart pretty quick. Even faster than bunker, but not by much. I'll need to test more but I was thinking of trying it with bait bags. It's a lot like using bunker but cheaper and I can get it at ShopRite if I can't find a bait and tackle open near where I'm crabbing.
Yeah what I would do if my truck kept on getting stuck I leave cuz next time you might not get your traps back that happened to me a bunch of times like where I go crabbing does a pipeline and when I cast it by there the traffic gets stuck under the pipes and I never seen them again so I got another place that always provides blue crabs cheapest little guys pregnant crabs
knock on wood, I haven't lost a trap yet but I came really close a few times. That's a downside of using circle net traps, they seem to snag more. I was thinking of getting a couple of box traps just for spots like that.
@@slingshotcrabbingyeah cuz when I go crabbing I just got to watch out where I cast cuz a lot of people who use fishing rigs and brand new jigs because it's some big pipeline that goes to Staten Island it runs to Jersey Brooklyn Manhattan it's one or two three big pipelines and people get stuck so I gave up crab in there and now I grabbed somewhere else where there is no pipelines
I just picked up 4 of the cheapest box traps I could find on Amazon. they'll be on standby for those particularly snaggy spots. They are crap but I read they can be improved with Zip-Ties.
