Little Feat - Dixie Chicken (Skin It Back)
Available Now: mercury-studio....
This Little Feat DVD continues our series of releases from the archives of legendary German TV series Rockpalast. Filmed at the Grugahalle in Essen in 1977, just a few days before the recording of their legendary live album "Waiting For Columbus", this DVD captures the classic seventies Little Feat line-up led by the late Lowell George at the very peak of their powers. Also featured as a bonus is almost 30 minutes of never before seen alternative rehearsal versions including material that didn't make it into the final show.

over the years, I started to realize the immense impact these artists played on our music...so much talk and hype about the Grateful Dead...not knowing how awesome "Little Feat" were.

Lowell was a close friend of the GD and produced one of their albums- LF deserve every accolade,no need to somehow diminish the GD legacy to prop up LF..😭

Good heavens, talk about the perfect combination of six overwhelmingly talented musicians converging together at the right point in time! Doesn’t get any better than when The Feat hit one of their fantastic funky grooves and just roll on their swampy, R&B, Naw’lins rhythms. This era of music in the 70’s was unsurpassed in its creativity. So sorry and jealous that I never got to see them during Lowell’s time. Sadly missed opportunity. I did finally catch up with them when they reunited to carry the torch forward to honor Lowell and the bands history. Thank god for film footage like this as well as a monstrous body of recorded work. Rest in Eternal Musical Grooves Lowell, Kenney and Paul 🎶🎵🎶

Saw them in Little Rock as a teen in the mid '70s. They were packaged at the time with other southern rock bands. And I'm pretty sure they were with either Marshal Tucker or Charlie Daniels when I saw them. Fred Tackett is from Little Rock. And yes, thank goodness for the archival footage of this amazing band!

Everything about this is stunning to a rabid Little Feat fan. Bill Payne had natural ability (those hands) and immense talent. Whoever placed the camera so we could see him play should also have a monument or at least an honorable mention. Edit: I've read just about all the comments here and and each brings something interesting to light and mostly shows we all knew good music when we heard it and no it's not just embellished memories, It really was a landmark time in music and um, fun. A lot of damn fun.

I've seen the bright lights of Memphis and the Commodore Hotel And underneath a streetlamp, I met a southern belle Well, she took me to the river, where she cast her spell And in that southern moonlight, she sang a song so well If you'll be my Dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland Well, we made all the hot spots, my money flowed like wine Then that low down southern whiskey began to fog my mind And I don't remember church bells or the money I put down On the white picket fence and boardwalk of the house at the edge of town Oh, but boy, do I remember the strain of her refrain The nights we spent together and the way she called my name If you'll be my Dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland Well, it's been a year since she ran away Yes, that guitar player sure could play She always liked to sing along, she's always handy with a song Then, one night in the lobby, yeah, of the Commodore Hotel I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well And as he handed me a drink, he began to hum a song And all the boys there, at the bar, began to sing along If you'll be my Dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland

I'm so in Love with Lowell George! I grew up in Macon and Chattanooga, so of course I heard the Feat on my AM/FM pocket radio,, but never saw what they looked like until a year ago when I really got into my RU-vid premium music...zomg, LOVE!!* Mr George is the epitome of sexy hot attractiveness - mainly I think, because he was so understated. Not overdoing the rockstar god thing, but the consummate professional, imo, of course. I realize that the band has gotten back together - and they're REALLY good - but without their coverall wearing little fat man in a bathtub guy, jamming his ass off- I just can't get into it 😢😢❤🎉🎉😊
