LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE Museum Laura Ingalls House 

My great Aunt's school bus broke down in front of her home in Missouri. It was hot that day and the kids got off the bus to wait for a replacement and Laura brought out lemonade and cookies for the kids! One of her favorite stories to tell!

I love Little House On The Prarie. I watch it everyday. Life was so simple and down to earth. I really wish living was like this today , no phones , cell phones , no computers. Clean simple living.

I love Little House. It actually teaches people that they should always be grateful for the things they have in life.

look at that simple living can you imagine no phones, ipods, FB, IG, Google. smh no drama no tv clean music and no reality shows. life was simple. today's society is just out of control.

This makes me think about how quickly everything that we have and know changes after we're gone. In a relatively short time there's hardly anything recognizable about the lives of a town of people who lived there just 150 years ago, and it's hard to determine just where anything was...if it weren't for a hand dug well. So thankful for Laura's writings.

You need to go to DeSmet South Dakota where Ma, Pa and Mary Ingalls last lived. They are all buried there too. Great place!

My dad and I both wanted you to know the sound of locusts in the video made us remember our sweet childhood visits to Kansas.

Laura Ingalls wilder is one of my favorite author when I was young before it came a tv show and it's a great video as well

Thanks for the coverage I’m currently renting a house in Pennsylvania built in 1855 and I’ve been doing historical research on the builder learning so much I already found his gravesite and another house built by him up the street. Famous author Margaret Mead grew up in the house!

I grew up on that show...still is the most wholesome show to ever be on the little screen.

Around 12:00 I think the Appomattox witness refers to Appomattox Courthouse where Lee surrendered to end the Civil War.

That first room in the schoolhouse is the coatroom. Those cans that looked kinda like paint cans were what the kids brought their lunches in. My mom went to a school like this in Missouri when she was young. She is the one that explained the coatroom.

We went to a childhood home of Laura's when we did a cross country road trip in a RV. We visited Walnut Grove Minnesota and Plum Creek, the location of the dugout home, from the 4th book in the series. It was fantastic and loved the Little House series.

also loved DR. Quinn that was a dang good show too.

I grew up watching Little House and loved it! This was fantastic and I’m so happy you stopped. I live on the prairies in Canada and we have some old timey pioneer towns on display that I had to visit because it is so interesting to see how people used to live and how far we’ve come. It was nice to hear the nature sounds of the prairies in the vlog. So peaceful!

Thanks for the great tour!! We live about 5 miles from this and have been there numerous times. It’s a great place for kids and truly a sweet peaceful place to just relax and imagine what life would have been like back then. When our kids were little they got to have a school day there, dressed the part, took their lunches in pails, and learned their lessons. They loved it!!

I live in MN and grew up 12 miles from Walnut Grove. My father set in motion the establishment of the roadside monument there that paved the way to the opening dugout site, museum, tourists etc. because he was the county engineer and discovered it while talking to the farmer while working with him on a road easement way back in the 50s. This is the only Ingalls-Wilder site I have not visited with my family ! Thank you, I especially like that you read all the nice quotes she wrote and that they posted.

That was really interesting ! I loved the Laura Ingalls books. I'm from MN, and my grandma brought me to the Laura Ingalls museum in Walnut Grove.

I grew up 15 minutes from the real Walnut Grove Minnesota. Many towns that they mention in the TV show I’m very familiar with. My town is never mentioned, because it was not established until 1900. They also have a museum dedicated to Little House on the Prairie in Walnut Grove. Growing up when I watch the show, I never figured out why it looks so different from the real place. Not realizing that it was filmed out on a ranch in California. And stuff was done on a soundstage as well. But through kid eyes I could never figure out why it didn’t look like the real place smile. In fact, I had swimming lessons in one of the towns they mention. The town is called Lamberton. They mentioned going there for supplies quite a bit in the show. As well as a town called Sleepy Eye in Springfield. Very familiar with these towns.

Priceless....

Hopefully you can make it up to Walnut Grove, MN someday to see the things that relate more to the LHOTP show in particular.

Remember balling when their dog Bandit died 😭 I was teased in Elementary school. Because looked like Laura Ingalls from the tv show. Had same color hair in braids. And for picture day. My Mom had sewn a dress, almost the exact pattern/color as hers. Even used 2 scrap strips tied to the bottom of my braids. A boy was mean & pulled on them. Everyone chanting mockingly: "Laura". I was a goody goody from Grade 1 - 5. Even getting an award for perfect attendance. Given to me at a school assembly. Ahhh seems so long ago. I love all the quotes on those signs. It still blows me away how the entire family all lived together in a 1 room cabin! And how they travelled by wagon. My Mom grew up on a farm. And went to a 1 room schoolhouse, just like in the tv show. Here I was spoiled by growing up in a big city. And a 2 floor big house. Pretty good for having a Single Mom supporting my bro & I. My Gramma looked after us too. She was my very best friend. **QUESTION: WHAT WAS THAT SOUND IN THE BACKGROUND? CRICKETS OR SPRINKLERS?**

I live somewhere like this when I was a child. My father had a farm he had horses, cows, sheep & chickens. He didn't have running water. we had to haul water. In the morning we have to get a bucket of water. The only thing was different was we didn't wash our clothes by hand. we drove in town to wash our clothes & took a shower in the barn that my dad built. it sure was beautiful as a child. Now I live in the city with my mother.

Just an FYI, it's pronounced O - sage ( like the spice, herb, or whatever) Nice vlog. As a native Kansan, I'm enjoying this swing of yours through our Great State !!

I read all of these books to my two children when they were very young. They are in their 30's now and they still remember me reading them. My Dad was born in 1916 in Nebraska, my Mom 1920 in Kansas. I have their stories that are quite like this. It was great seeing this. Thank you.

One of my favorite tv shows. Grew up to them in the 1970's ( born in 1971) and still watch them today. The only one you won't see in its actual location is the one in Wisconsin because it was relocated and had to be restored due to decay. I live 2 hours and 40 minutes from Rocky Ridge farm here in Missouri.

Laura Ingalls Wilder was my owner's relative. Eight generations back, was an ancestor's half sister's granddaughter. Amazing!!

I remember running home after school to watch that show every day one of the best.

Jordan thank you for a wonderful history lesson laura will live on in her books forever.

I loved the little house books when I was a young girl. I was sick a lot and the books were a great comfort for me. It also instilled a great love of history. I have the complete set of books in paper back.

My favourite thing to watch. They stopped showing it, a little after Laura married. Never did see the town be blown up. How great to see the very house she grew up in. I thought it was the filming location. So what a treat. Ty Jordan 😀

Bill Kurtis, one of the owners, was raised on that property. He is the Bill Kurtis of CBS News. He did the nightly news and the CBS morning show among many other news programs. He is a celebrity in Kansas, and has these Laura Ingalls ties too.

I was there in October 2021 and could not have been happier to see it all! I literally cried from happiness and did not want to leave! My daughter lives in Wichita so I'm sure we'll visit, again.
