The sentimental attachment is powerful. I'm a viewer, from back in TV day, when the only man permitted to openly express his pain, grief, joy, with everyday tears on TV was Charles Ingalls. That was masculinity back then: A rancher/homesteader/family man, who recognized the importance of participating every day in emotional learning and growing. Cause if we ain't squared away in the heart and head, we can't be trusted to guard the homestead. Wolves and bandits can sniff out our fears. That's why Ingalls, at home, sheds his tears. He processes his emotional pain every day. That good Christian fought a S'Deadly each Wednesday.
When I was a young boy in the early '70s, I read all the Little House books. I felt a real connection to the life that was described. When I found out there was going to be a television series, I was very excited to see it. A couple of years ago, while researching my family tree, I saw the name "Ingalls". So I started looking online, and found out that Laura Ingalls was my cousin!
Walking around my kitchen preparing dinner and I just started whistling this theme tune. Thought I would pop on RU-vid and listen as it sounds si much better than my whistling. What memories this evokes of my two brothers my parents and myself around the tv watching The little house on the prairy sometimes all of us watching with tears in our eyes. Those were wonderful, innocent and hapoy days for me.
Michael Landon is fabulous actor, i living in Brazil, and i see Highway to Heaven and Litle house on the Prairie, i feel the simple touch of God in ever scene, the music give me peace, R.I.P Landon, you change many lives with your work🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤠🤠🤠
Michael Landon had the Midas touch in Hollywood. It seems as though every production with which he was involved turned into pure gold. This series featuring a close-knit, normal family and characters with whom one could empathize and at whom one could cheer and jeer will always withstand the test of time.
Considering how many modern TV shows don't even make it to 2 or 3 seasons, I would have to agree -- the 3 big TV shows that I remember ML being in, definitely did better in that regard.
My mother loved this program bless her, and I loved watching it with her and my father, God bless them both, I love and miss you both, forever in my heart and thoughts
wawo, recalled nice old memories, I was kid in seventies, they show this series on channel 7, 1979, I love it a lot , made me feel I am with them in thier life moments, joy, sadness, adventure, family aspects, love every one in this series, lora is the best
I think the most beautiful Television Theme in history. The Little House on the Prairie Theme always brings me close to tears when I hear it. The only other themes even close to these were Michael Landon's "Highway To Heaven" theme also by David Rose. "The Waltons" theme by Gerry Goldsmith/Alexander Courage was also very beautiful. As were Bill Conti's... Falcon Crest, Dynasty and Cagney & Lacey themes. All very beautiful and moving!

This film was shown in Indonesia around 85. I was 10 years old. Every Sunday this film is shown on national TV. I really like watching this family film, the story is very good 😊❤❤
A show with a pulse. I watch you everyday still. Thank you Michael. If more followed the formula of this show, Earth would overtake Heaven as the place to be.
Watch it everyday also thank you to all the cast and writers for a great show And thank you to the real Laura Ingalls who made all this possible someday when I go home I would love to meet you in person
...great memories of the seventies when as a little kid I used to sit on black and white old box of TV, and later as a teacher of English used to ask my pupils to watch the episodes and bring to class as many English words as they can to explain and discuss in the classroom. It really seems that time flies away just like a flick of an eye, but only the nice memories stick around in our lives...Sami Julis village north of Israel.
