My brother flew in the bush in Africa for 7 years, met the love of his life there, loved flying over all that wildlife and died in a plane crash so this story resonates. He lived long enough to see this film and I know it was special for him as he had a CD of the soundtrack among his belongings,

As a young girl of 19, newly married, I flew to Kenya with my husband for him to take up a British civil service post for 3 years. We lived just outside Nairobi and not far from Karen where the coffee farm stood. It was 1957. This film fills me with memories and the beautiful John Barry music.

I think the hallmark of a good story is that you can never grow exhausted of it - no matter how many times you've heard it told, it feels like the first time you've heard it. That's how I feel about this incredible story. It's a story I can never get tired of, one which feels like an odyssey your grandparents would tell you about, a story of a land and life completely lost to time. Absolutely love this movie, never fails to move me.

Long ago my Dutch/African fiance and I parted just weeks before our wedding day. How I loved him. It's strange that this should appear unexpectedly, so many years later on my journey. He's near to me today in this music, a sweet and strong memory still. Unforgettable... wherever you are, bless you. Know that you were loved.

Next to Born Free, this is my second favorite movie of all time. I’ve watched it dozens of times and am mesmerized from beginning to end every time. You can hardly get better than these two actors. Redford is breathtaking, always has been, always will be. Meryl is perfection in everything she does and this one is no exception - one of, if not THE best film she’s ever done!!!

Film jest przepiekny ❤❤❤ oglądałam go kilka razy, za pierwszym razem wiele lat temu w kinie. Pozostawił niezapomniane wrażenia, więc chyba dlatego co jakiś czas do niego wracam. Przeczytałam także książkę na podstawie, której powstał film. Muzyka filmowa zawsze mnie urzekła, a ta w "Pożegnaniu z Afryką " jest jedną z moich ulubionych. Krajobrazy zapierają dech w piersi (przynajmniej mojej) i pomimo tego, że nigdy nie byłam na tym kontynencie, to odnoszę wrażenie, że takiej Afryki już po prostu nie ma ... pozostały piekne historie, urokliwe obrazy filmowe i ... muzyka, która je opisuje ❤❤❤.
