Buckwild is an amazing producer in his own right, has classics from this era, worked with some of the greats and doesn't have to be put down to uplift Dilla who is already great in his own right.
John Howington pete is the only one who could stand against Dilla’s basslines. Coz Pete and Dilla have unarguably the beat basslines of all producers out there. But when it comes to sampling and drums? Even Pete tips his hat to Dilla’s drums patterns and sampling technique. But I think Im stating obvious
John Render IMO, J Dilla got his basslines from Pete Rock and his drums from Q-Tip...he basically took their best qualities and then developed his own sound.

I prefer this version to Buckwild's. But to say Buckwild "fucking sucks" is nothing short of fucking ridiculous. The dude's catalogue is nothing but classics after classics. He's arguably the best producer from DITC....I'd even put him ahead of Finesse. I think you need to lay off the crack pipe instead bruh.
Overall both producers did their thing, and it boils down to personal preference. I like what they both did, decent amount of homework and execution for it to be 1995, and both producers at age 20-21 making good music. That speaks for its self. (personally i feel like dilla put more effort into his production) But.... its all personal preference.
Mike Dee Listen to bucks remix for Rock On by Funkdoobiest his best beat to me bucks style is straight up classic nyc boom bap hardcore boom bap that’s the difference between him and Dilla can’t really compare
