Little Italy Then & Now: Revisiting 1980s series on San Diego neighborhoods 

I am glad Little Italy is doing so well today, but I sometimes miss the smaller, sleepier, Little Italy I remember as a kid.

I remember when they started to dismantle some of the old buildings (1980’s) to put in so called live/work spaces and condo’s. I remember the little restaurants and espresso cafes, and art studio/galleries. It looks crowded with high “rent” living spaces. While the energy is nice only the very monied$$$ can live there now.

Wow, Angel still works there 35 years later! I wonder if he has plans to retire someday.

As bustling and active as it is now it still retains its character. That’s the most important thing.
