Hi, the director of this video here, I am stoked for all the views, thanks very much everyone, very cool. There's a bit of as to what this is all about, and, like a good magician, I wont tell you because it'll spoil the fun of projecting your own self onto the images which is, at it's ultimate, what really is the purpose of it. But I will say it's about quantum physics. It's about fractals. It's about how consciousness within and the universe without are and have always been interrelated.
I'm surprised that this song isn't more popular. This is by fair their best song in my opinion and I'm very picky with my music. Keep on keepin' on Mother Mother
You are not your rules... you are not your governmental body... your are not your plans... you are not your ideas... you are not your loves... you are not your hates... You are not you, You are someone stuck thinking about you.
@@deysirodriguez3275 they say that the things you like and such are all chosen by your biology or environment and you are the person looking back at yourself and reflecting on the person in the mirror
My interpretation. It's about the bitterness and anger experienced when you have a fear of being hurt, for the first time or again. What can be lost in that rage is the knowledge that pain is part of the joy of life. Not just to be endured but relished itself. We learn more from pain than joy. If we can suffer without despair, without self righteousness, without angst, you can come out transformed with a better understanding of yourself, others, and how your piece fits. I don't know that I do/believe that all the time, but that's what I hear in the song and see in the video.
this video is absolutely mesmerizing. it might be the eerie nature of the clips and it's "found footage horror movie" vibe it's got going on or how you know that something is going to happen in each of the clips but you're not quite sure what. i honestly can't look away
Mother Mother are probably my favorite ever band. And whoever directed this video is a boss! I love mother mother so much, I will cry with excitement if they ever come to the UK.
Actually! Catholic here. Still love the song, the lyric really shows anger and contempt at something/someone who is supposed to be good, but they've either lost belief or have never believed and are both bitter and happy about the truth they've found. Honestly, everyone's truth is different, and this song is so good at conveying how many people are terrified of what they don't know, and often are hateful because of that. Again, a really great song. Though, I'm just a silly kid, so what could I possibly know? 🙃
I'm Christian and I agree. (I know this was 7 years ago!) I can accept that they are atheists and still enjoy their amazing music. And people who decide that one line ruins the song are the type who make people hate Christianity in the first place.
I think it's about how messed up the world is. How people manipulate others and cause suffering to exert and maintain control. If you think about it too much and get caught up in it, it can make you go crazy, feel out of control and want to lash out. When you find love or another positive outlet such as music to get lost in, everything around you just kind of fades away and it doesn't matter so much what's going on in the world anymore. =]

I do not know why but I love this music. It is actually my favorite one, I like the others too but Little Pistol... I am almost crying every times I listen to it, just beautiful.
Sounds like someone who feels that they have to keep on living for someone or something but they secretly don't want to and feel like they're in an endless loop of despair, they feel like violence is the answer to this but wish it wasn't. They feel like the universe is tormenting them for doing something but they don't know what it was.
I’ve noticed there’s a reference to fish in every music video I’ve seen and some of the songs lyrics. For example at 1:14 with the line “under my skin”. Perhaps this is suggesting that feeling of being ‘a fish out of water’, or feeling like you need to be part of a group to be worth anything, maybe I’m just a crazy conspiracy theorist but I feel like there’s a meaning there.
Found this video by watching clips of Hedda Gabler. This song really helped me understand her dynamic character much more deeply. Thank you for this fantastic piece of art!
I honestly don't believe that Mother Mother could be any cooler if they tried, like, it's not just their music that's incredible, they are such kind and friendly peoples as well
I just got this song, had heard it without the video and didn't really think to much of it, but Wow i Just got goosebumbs that has to be the most amazing music-video ever, not to talk about the song, who is freaking amazing to :D
