True.Little Richard came up in the 50s and BLK people didn't have Civil Rights. But when Michael Jackson purchased AVA? Catologs in 1985,he gave 2 people their catologs 4 free.Sly Stone and LITTLE RICHARD!hail Little Richard! Flamboyant as Prince and Michael, and MORE militant then Spike Lee and Public Enemy.RIP KING!
@@alishamccormick7804 Did you know that Joan Rivers said: "Michelle Obama is a man and we who met him all knows it!" and a week later Joan Rivers died.
He was so secure in himself never allowed people to ruffle him he knew whom he was and cared less why you thought of him and lived his life to his fullest.him and Joan both are legends she was good at what she did to.
@@denisejackson776 He was one of many artists that struggled with their Christian upbringing and living in the secular world. Little Richard wasn't the only one. Look at Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Jerry Lee Lewis. Little Richard was born gay. That never changed.
@@seulbzzaj We all have struggled with sin,we are all human beings, the man said he rebuked the life style,he turned to Jesus, was no longer wearing makeup or wigs,I mean the man said it himself, look it up if you want to,at any rate not here to debate,he repented before he left this earth, his soul is at peace.🙏
LITTLE RICHARD IS DEFINITELY AN ORIGINAL. they broke the mold with him.... What a wonderful spirit he had. So much energy. An a decent man. And a incredible performer
That man endured the 1950's and still made his career happen. There is no telling what oppression he and his band went through, to make music. It was so fucking good, they couldn't stop him. There is a reason every rockstar loves Little Richard.
One night Little Richard and Don Rickles appeared together on the Johnny Carson Show. They started to bounce off each other - and wound up running around and tearing the place apart. Johnny just sat back and let them take over. The audience was in hysterics! Richard could have been a brilliant comedian. But he turned out to be the one & only king of rock and roll!
@Seamus Lannon The Col bought publicity and claimed Elvis to be the King, just like Michael Jackson said he was the King of pop. Elvis was a pop artist, he sang anything the Col told him to for money. Jerry Lee Lewis , Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Chuck Barry, were rock n roll
i was a teenager when this movie was out, so this was my first introduction to Little Richard but I'll never forget that line, "Ain't no black man supposed to live in Beverly Hills!" It's really sad that every word he shouted in that monologue still rings true over thirty years later.
I didn't know he'd had such a devastating accident ripped his lip and tongue. 36 pins in his right leg. I didn't realise he was in the Beverley Hills movie
Little Richard had a beautiful & joyful spirit. He was an iconic artist/performer and a handsome man.😍. He was Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown all wrapped up in one beautiful package. R. I. P. Sir Little Richard 🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾
Scott Coleman .....Yes, you are right, Mr. Scott. However, Little Richard often said that he has “nothing to hide”. In other interviews he said he remains friends with his ex-wife, Ernestine. At his funeral, she went up with his brother to receive an honor from a city official.
Little Richard survived because of his flamboyant personality and his wardrobe. Little Richard has said that during his day a black man couldn't be seen as masculine around whites, because white men didn't want black men around women for fear they would sleep with the white women, but if black men were effeminate than it was fine. Little Richard was a character but I believe he survived racism and ill treatment because he wasn't seen as a threat. His personality ease a lot of nerves, but if people paid attention to him, he was much more than a flashy gimmick. Early on, Little Richard had changed his life, he went back to school, graduated from an HBCU , became an ordained minister, left the music industry, because he realized it was about negativity, despite making money. Everyone that came in contact with him talked about his kindness. Little Richard was fearless, when many thought he was just crazy, he gave a real history lesson on how he actually discovered many rock and roll greats, and that he was the originator of Rock and Roll.
Gary has no personality, he's not comfortable with people and he doesn't have a comedic flair. Little Richard knows how to work the crowd and he's funny as heck. You can't help but like Little Richard.
He was a door-opener in so many ways. I know he rejects homosexuality and drag queens now but he opened the door for them. They need to pay him honor. All they do, Little Richard did first. The talk, gestures, attitude, expressions, Little Richard did first. He was the first to call himself “Queen” Rupaul wasn’t the first, honey!
NO !.... he wasn't the first. There were loads of queens before him.....it's just that the straight world didn't want to see them, but they were always there through herstory since the beginning of time. You could say he was the first to bring camp to the masses. Huntey !
Most people have never seen this man at his best as an Intertanier....I was back in them days and I'm here to tell u little Richard rocked the world...all the way to the day of his death....
There's a song by Prince on his Diamonds and Pearls LP called Jughead. It talks about Little Richards issues with the music business, and crazy enough about 2years B4 Prince put slave on his face. His character in the movie is like him.Richard was more militant than people think.RIP bro.
Prince did dress and style himself after him check it out during the diamond and pearls era with the new power generation, he where's the bandanas with the big high hair. Then go look at little Richard and you'll see. He is very eccentric and colorful in personality but he's actually telling the truth. I think prince was obvious for a season dressing like him because he did have his own as well but he definitely was dressing inspired like him. Nothing is new under the sun even when it comes to prince and Michael Jackson.
Christina Mitchell oh absolutely I believe you. I noticed the scarves ever since his movie under the cherry moon and in the early 90s. I just find it so fascinating that I never saw it before until watching this interview. It’s amazing
@@IamGaby lol I understand completely but it's probably because we did not grow up on little Richard our family member before us did. He was prince back in the day for his generations. You know it was a shock for me to see smoothe criminal by Michael was inspired by Fred estaire. I knew he said he was inspired by Fred but it was very much like the movie.
A lot of music icons got their look from him...and he don't mind..he came along before a lot of them...you can tell Prince was inspired..and I love Prince😍...R.I.P Little Richard..🖤
@@panthersinstinct2750 What song did Elvis steal? In other words: what song did he sing and not give credit to the writer? Elvis is the King because he established R&R as we know it today. Back when gay little richard and Chuck "the chucker" Berry were singing, it was all rhythm and blues. Elvis created the moves, the rebellion, the badness, the voice, attitude, rock and roll as we know it. If not for Elvis, black musicians would not have made it as far as they did.
@@Richbar-qe6bx He didn't still a song,he stole multiple...what you just said was quite the opposite. The moves, the rebellion, the badness, the voice, the attitude,etc... were ALL present via multiple BLACK musicians,he wouldn't be Elvis without black people and that's a fact,do some research...you yourself admitted he was taking songs (did occasionally give credit) so what makes you think the songs were the only thing he was adopting? you'd be crazy to think otherwise. Again,he came in an already established genre.
@@panthersinstinct2750 Again, I ask: What song did he steal? Do you know the meaning of stealing? Look it up: definition of stealing is "take (another person's property or song) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it." Just one example, the song hound dog was written by Lieber and stoller. Google who wrote the song hound dog: Lieber and Stoller. Stealing means Elvis sang the song and gave no credit to those who wrote it. That is what stealing is. As for the moves, he originated and influenced many black entertainers in the business like Jackie Wilson who once said: “A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man’s music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.” Jackie Wilson And Al Green said: "Elvis had an influence on everybody with his musical approach. He broke the ice for all of us." Need more proof? Isaac Hayes said: "Elvis was a giant and influenced everyone in the business." Isaac Hayes. Before making your ignorant comments, do you research first.
Just have to love him! Whooooooo! Rest in Peace, Richard. Another LEGEND at rest. Miss Freddie, George, Prince, Tom, Aretha and Donna... And of course, David.
Aww man when I was a kid I used to tell funny stories about Michael Jackson to my classmates (3rd grade) and also imitate Little Richard's hysterical laugh with the "shut up!" the way he would do it and have the whole class laughing. They'd ask me to do the impression all time. This was my non shy days as a kid. Good memories. 😄
and I'm so glad it was Joan Rivers that night I miss Joan Rivers if anybody deserves to be a diva in Hollywood and Beverly Hills and all the big fancy circles it was Joan Rivers I was crazy about that sister these were the good old days when television was entertainment and everything was entertainment now we're screwed pray everybody rest in peace Little Richard and you to Joan Rivers❤❤❤❤❤👊👊🥂🥂🥂🥂👌 I know her and Johnny Carson had a battle but she just gave the show a little bit of." UMPH" they were both fantastic rest in peace all you guys❤🥂
In 1982 on Letterman he said he was no longer Gay, and that he was an Evangalist, he was dressed in a suit with no makeup. In this interview 4 years later, he seems to be back in touch with his more flamboyant side.
