From the androgyny of Prince, to the vocal mannerisms of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, Little Richard's impact on pop culture was ubiquitous. James Brown began his career as a Little Richard impersonator, Hendrix started playing guitar in Richard's band and Michael Jackson deemed him a major influence. A pioneering figure in the development of soul and funk, Little Richard is most remembered as a founding father of early Rock'n'roll. He blew the lid off the 50s with game changing songs such as "Tutti Frutti" and "Good Golly Ms Molly",becoming a benchmark by which excellence is judged. He acheived all of this under the glaring shadow of segregation, often being denied radio airplay. Bravely fighting against systematic racism, Richard shattered the colour line in music, changing American pop culture forever and becoming one of the most influential figures in entertainment. Long live The Innovator, The Originator and The Architect of Rock'n' roll
God bless Mr. Richard Wayne Penniman God bless Rock & Roll. Nice to imagine the yesterday meeting in the sky, on a cloud, between Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown. Amazing.

Little Richard was an incredible performer. He would work himself into total exhaustion by the end of his set. He was not really sane, of course, but what a gift it was to see him live with his own band in the 1960s. NOBODY packed more wallop than Richard & I saw the Stones live back in those days.
It's impossible to listen to this man's music and not be overcome with excitement and energy. Dancing wildly is one of the side-effects of his music. His songs should come with a warning label. RIP Little Richard. You were one of the greats! ❤

As a teenager in the '50's Lucille was my favorite Rock 'N Roll song. I wore out many a 45 RPM Record playing this song. The beginning beat was the best ever.
Little Richard rocks the stages when he played the piano. He knew how to keep that heavy sound using the saxophones in a continuous pattern. He left the stage for 10 years , but came back with no new record .But Lucia was so ahead of his time that the new generation like it.
Lucille has one of the iconic intros in rock history. If something aint movin check your pulse. Jimi Hendrix was his guitar player for a short period of time.
Remember watching Little Richard on TV as a young child in the late 60’s early 70’s and in complete awe. I would turn around and ask my mother if she remembered him growling up, she couldn’t answer right away because she was busy dancing. There was my answer.
This is the man who made music happen for me. I was only a toddler when I first heard my grandad's rock and roll records playing and Little Richard' was the one who had me bouncing round the room. Immense performances and what a voice!!!!!!!!
Little Richard truly was a pioneer that set the foundational stones of what would become Heavy metal/grunge/ Rock and roll and many other genres of rock.

This man is by far the Father of Rock-N-Roll and a true force of nature. I cannot think of another performer with this man's repertoire. I am in awe of the voice, kindness and stage presence of Little Richard. All others followed this example/blueprint to become what they became. All hail King Little Richard!
did you say repertoire? LMFAO he's a one trick pony. he lived decades longer than segregated America, YET still failed miserably at reaching elvis's massive critically acclaimed recordings. decades longer. that tells you why he remains beneath the king. nowhere near elvis's level of diversity.
@@bradhuskers Totally agree. He always fell back on his work from the 50's. The work that actually made a difference and inspired people. But it's his own fault, he kept going in and out of music. Joining the church, then performing, then rejoining the church. He ruined his own career. Not to mention his arrogant screeching of him being the king of rock. No king has to tell everyone he's king...
@@bradhuskers most black artist weren’t given as much attention as white artists. America was so racist, they couldn’t accept a black musician to be good.
@@anythingchannel9326 Are you educated? We already know that. During the 1950's. That's the way it was. However, little richard lived decades longer. Black artists were now being played all over after the 1950's. Little richard lived decades past that time, AND STILL couldn't reach elvis's massive body of critically acclaimed recordings. Meaning that little richard wasn't as diverse as elvis. Otherwise, after the 50's, little richard would've been able to surpass elvis. But rhe reality is that he was nowhere near elvis's level of soul, depth and diversity. He didn't have anywhere near elvis's talent. He was given the opportunity, by living a long life, but he wasn't able to come anywhere near elvis. Stop embarrassing yourself.
@@yayastedi 100% correct. He's a great pioneer. But ultimately, despite living decades longer than elvis, he failed miserably at reaching elvis's level of success, because he just wasn't as great.
I don't know how one can calculate Little Richards contributions to American culture. But it was great. He is the true father of Rock-n-Roll, in my opinion. His influence casts a long shadow over all pop music that came later. R&B, Funk, Rock, Punk, disco etc all owe something to him. His energy on stage was unmatched. He was the first gender bending superstar. He was the first gay rock icons. He paved the way for black artists to become mainstream to the horror of post-war white suburban parents. Cheers to an innovator, one of the brightest stars of the 20th century, and a true legend. Rest in Power Richard. We love you.
Wow, read about his passing and never knew about him, but today i found an amazing talented and awesome artist. Definitely the best. Wow he is just the best. Rip little Richard.

I love Little Richard for me being 34 years old. so what if he is both ways. we need to stop judging each other and just pray and stop being so mean and hateful. I love his music. we have to give an account of our sins before God Almighty. keep being bless Mr. Richard your voice and music is amazing. God have blessed you with a gift of music and I'm happy that you are using it. people who is playing hating get some business and stop judging.
Today one of the greatest artists in the history of Music has left. Not only because of how great he was in himself (for his voice, his talent, his energy, his charisma ...) but also for being a pioneer of a musical genre, Rock and Roll, which ended up becoming the most cultural movement important from the second half of the 20th century. Without Little Richard there would be no Rolling Stones, Elvis, Beatles ... This man is a legend and the influence of his music on the musical culture of the 20th century is incalculable. Thanks so much, Rest in Peace Little Richards (Richard Wayne Penniman).
That's my favourite moment of Little Richards when he says I want all to women to say Wooooooow .... And all the man to say Huuuuh ! Amazing he's just putting how it actually is !
I hear echoes of Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, and Mick Jagger. Such a major influence on many of the sixties and seventies artists! The king of Rock and Roll!
