It's a shame that Leon only had a couple of movies under his belt because this guy is an Amazing actor! First he played David Ruffin in the Temptations movie and here he played Little Richard both flawless performances! He should have gotten some recognition for both of these roles!
I've never understood why Leon is not considered in the same league as Denzel Washington or Jamie Foxx. This cat has a lot of range and is a superb actor. He was awesome in the movie The Temptations as David Ruffin.
I love them all and never saw fit to categorize or compare either of them, so I guess to me they are all in the same league! All 3 are phenomenal actors in my opinion...and I have always loved them equally because they are all multi talented!!! :)
6312Blue because he never hooked up with any of Tom Cruises exe's hahaha. He's done some okay made for TV movies. He never made anything really big for white crowds to enjoy. A lot of ethnic roles but nothing mainstream suspense with a mostly white cast. Gotta lead those white cast roles to be a star.

Leon portrayed two amazing musicians the late David Ruffin and the late Little Richard. Leon doesn't get enough credit for his roles. He did a great job. RIP Little Richard. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙💙💙
YES! I agree! Leon is ADORABLE, GOOD LOOKING, and VERY TALENTED! ♥️I don’t know much about him, but I want to learn more! Any recommendations please? Love this guy! 🤩♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Can you help me learn more about Leon please? I just adore this guy in both roles and must learn more! He’s adorable, good looking, and extremely talented! 🤩♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Seems his father was proud of him in the end, he just did not have the chance to say so but when he told he had to get him a car I guess that was his way of letting him know he was proud of him.
Little Richard is buried here in Huntsville AL. He attended Oakwood College here and it was his wish for this to be his final resting place . He wrestled with the Devil often in his life but he confessed and said the Lord helped him to win the fight in the end. Rest in peace Little Richard 🙏
And he became an evangelist. Maybe in this show he made a mockery of the Lord but later he really sang only hymns. Evangelizing on the rock n roll stage obviously didn’t work. He did have an amazing voice.

Such a great show. Leon is outstanding as Little Richard - the original pop superstar that inspired Elvis, James Brown (inspiring funk music), Otis Redding, Sam Cooke (helping to inspire soul music), Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Jon Fogerty, The Beatles, The Stones, Michael Jackson and on and on and on. God bless and long live the King of Rockin n Rollin, Rhythm & Blues Soulin!!
Encore Leon encore do it BBY..sir Leon u r a brilliant actor...bravo bravo to u ...sir Leon...sir...we love ❤️ u gorgeous in one 😍 gnless u... peace ✌️
Amazing movie about the man who Ray Charles said in 1989, the man that started a kind of music that set the pace for a lot of what's happenin' today." Little Richard not only started, as Smokey Robinson said, that funky, drivin, never-let-up style of rock n roll", but he also was the original injection of funk in the rock beat according to James Brown who idolized him. He also helped pioneer soul music, inspiring the likes of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett. As people magazine claimed, there would not have been a Michael Jackson without a Little Richard (or a Prince).. Even Bruno Mars gives props to Little Richard. God bless and long live the King of Rockin n Rollin Rhythm & Blues Soulin!!
Wow. Little Richard and Chuck Berry really are the (2) founders of Rock 'n' Roll along with countless BLACK MUSICIANS who just created America's popular music. I pray that Little Richard, or as we call him Rabbi Penniman, was able to establish his retirement home for Rock 'n' Roll musicians, often broke and forgotten when they're old. Shabbat shalom Rabbi Penniman:)
I know I can't judge him, because seems like God was rolling with him the whole time. I esp. liked how he figured singing his songs faster, would keep others from copying, and it worked. That's when I said, 'What God has for you, it is for you'. Those were his songs meant for him.
You consider being gay an issue? To what do you refer in such a veiled manor? Little Richard was a cool cat living his life, taking all the journeys a creative genius such as he had to experience , he had NOTHING to be ashamed of...this man was the architect of rock and roll..
@@U.T.P. That’s right. He was on David Letterman and sang a hymn. It’s on RU-vid. He said he was an evangelist. Exactly like the bible said “Raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
i love this movie. it's a timeless classic about how African American musician went through alot of stuff just so my generation dont have to go through what he went through
I just want to point out, We have to give Robert Townsend his flowers asap. He's either wrote or directed most of the black musical films we've seen today.
Always loved Little Richard. I'd come home from school and watch him whenever he was on American Bandstand or any variety show. I didn't know what gay was but loved the wildness of him and that voice.
I used to live in Riverside California, and just around the corner lived Little Richards cousins, The Alberts. They had some pretty cool stories ABOUT HIM, SO I THINK THEY WERE GENUINE. The voice of Rock & Roll.
Amazing biography of Little Richard. Beautifully portrayed. With everything Little Richard went through, he's still going. 86 years young. A true keystone landmark in RnB, Rock n Roll and Hip Hop. Wonderful movie. Thank you.
Sure is a great movie. It's sad his dad didn't live to see Lil Richard success, like that big beautiful house he bought for his mama. And seem like Lil Richard must have had a real close heart connection to his dad, because he seem like he was feeling the shots that went in his dad.
Billy Wright, in the movie, reminds me of what the old heads of today used to be. All the stories they used to tell about themselves back in the day is what comes to mind when seeing Billy Wright perform. Those days really seemed like the best times to go to the club.
Huh? Are we watching the same movie? He didn't even want to go and see him perform to "make a fool of himself" You should always love your children unconditionally. His daddy was not just tough, he rejected him
Really enjoyed LEON in this role of Little Richard. Some said that he wasn't singing but it sure looked like it especially, on that last song! I did love the music!
once again this was a good biopic, I caught a few deviations in the actual story line, but this is the first time seeing it and I plan on adding a (hard-version, DVD) to my collection. It is my hope that they would do a remake, it has been nearly 20 years since this version was done. Only changes I would make would be more focus on Little Richards" famous Upsetters Band," also would like to see more portrayal of "Art Rupe" and specialty records. I would also add the portrayal of his first live appearance as a child prodigy performing with "Sister Rosetta Tharpe." Portrayal of his stint with the famous Johnny Otis and his learning boogie Woogie Piano from the flamboyant Eskarita. The relationship with his pops had lots of dramatic license some of that should be cut. All and all decent biopic, thanks to petlover1603 for posting this.
I love Leon he is a phenomenal actor. This a good biopic. Also credit to the uploader. Very nice quality video, no distorted voices, no blurry imagery, and no taping it off of your big screen TV. I appreciate it.
When you watch this movie do you see a man that came from nothing to build something of his life from a time where his race was considered less than equal and forced to settle less than others. Its one thing to struggle in life and give up but to struggle in life and achieve against all odds even when the ones closes to you doubt you, he was far stronger than many of us walking this earth today. Little Richard did a lot for music and the people around him
That's TRUE! But I just wish Little Richard and all the other black talent like CHuck Berry, Bo Diddley, etc had good LEGAL REPRESENTATION at least like what today's Hip-Hop/Rap folk have. TRULY THESE FOLK GAVE SO MUCH AND GOT SO LITTLE.
@@2dasimmons .....That's because all those who promised...lied due to greed and other reasons, leaving these very talented artists broke, in the end, But, everyone else's pockets were full!
This is like my favorite movie I watch it over and over again. Little Richard was probably the most gentle and God loving humanitarian. I personally have ever seen someone so deserving as a human I love you always Richard. Rest in peace brother hope I see you on the other Shore
I loved this movie- felt Little Richard was perfect. By the number of thumbs up i see i am with the majority. The whole movie was wonderful, and deserved all the awards it received!
Bravo Leon!!! Excellent portrayal of Little Richard. So glad that you were chosen for this role, with Little Richard himself as Executive Producer. What an honor!!!
ow my goodnes!!! Ive never new there was a movie about the one and only king of rock n roll himself! I want this movie!!! im a little richard fan and a fifties freak.
I saw him in concert when I was in college...not long ago...he was so funny and kept telling us to shut up.Really full of himself but we thought it was funny.Amazing.
Deborah Rowland Oh so true, when I am looking at clothing the first thing I look at is the fabric, not the price or the size. Most things now are made of polyester, and that's plastic.
Or lycra. Those old style garments are actually cut to fit body contures rather than be just stretchy,And ,yes! The fabrics are higher quality natural fibers!Yup,makes one long for the good garment days!
#spoiler Alert! The spoof of Pat Boone with Richard, LOL, obviously Pat didn't have little Richards amazing chops, but he could still bring a tune a little better then the actor that portrayed him, you know in his country boy style! Talk about butchering a tune, lol, but I imagine that's the way little Richard heard it in his ears when it happened back in the day, he was probably like, "who is this square trying to do my song?" LOL
its funny cause the older I get I realize more like the part where he asked God for tons of money is almost like asking for evil because God wont operate in that fashion because he gives you what you need and not what you want thats the low spirit that does that I just got a whole lot of understanding right now
If you serve a abundant GOD then you’ll live abundant. Choosing to live within or below your means is on you which determines the motive of such prayers uttered. Anybody can be broke and worship GOD as anyone can be rich and worship as well.
I never saw this before. Think of how much pain he went through. Sometimes we have to just let people be. Next imagine how much the world would have lost if he wasn't strong enough to be himself.
IMHO there, to this day, exists no finer rock and roll band than the musicians who recorded Richard's classic hits. They came from jazz and it brings a life to rock and roll few groups since have incorporated with few exceptions as NRBQ. This film is superb, BTW.
Little Richard is one of my favorite singers nobody could sing like Little Richard period, you dead if you don't rock to his music still to this day, I miss Little Richard, R.I.P. Little Richard.
Wow #LeonRobinson what a great actor, he's done a brilliant brilliant job in this.......I want to find out more about Little Richard because of this film and I want to watch more films with Leon in them
I saw Little Richard in the early sixties when he had been brought in to boost the lack lustre Everly Brothers tour. He closed the first half and brought the house down. Nobody could have followed him. He drove the audience to the brink of madness when he came down into the audience then returned to the stage and threw his shirt into the audience. The next day postage stamp sized pieces of his shirt were being sold for £1 a pop - placed side by side they would have covered a football field! That's rock n roll.
Glad I can find a movie about Little Richard but a 5 year old must have wrote the script. Little Richard deserves a bigger eulogy than this, bigger than the Elvis movie.
The Architect of Rock n Roll; beautiful soul! I know him personally. There is no other like him ever! was nothing lil about Mr. Penniman. A real one thru and thru! Thank you Brotha; you are a Blessing and way before you time but right on time ever time!
hell yeah. he was in 3 movies as singers and pacific rim? Cool runnings. This role surprised me, but well done. "And so is his belief in pancake 31?! LOL Awesome. Loved little richard before, but Now...
Leon and Jamie both amaze me with their talent...neither have ever failed me with their skills...and I love them both! Leon was spectacular as always! :)))
