There is an old movie about Lil Richard on youtube . I have seen it today and it is amazing ! I wish Netflix wouldnt make a movie about him as they may skip spiritual journey of Little Richard . Most of those Netflix movies are kind of evil , about crime , drugs etc... not much movies about people who have given their lives to Jesus Christ like Little Richard did .
Little Richard was a legend, The spirit of rock n roll. He could sing anything his gospel singing was out of this world. He was as good as he said he was maybe better! RIP Richard Penniman!
I'd imagine Paul, just waking up early in the morning drinking his coffee, turning on his phone, going to youtube and watching this video where Little Richard compliments him and his band, he repeats it over and over again as he watches his idol compliment his skills. Truly fantastic!💯.

Well, if I would have people like Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Preston, James Brown, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Boy George, Michael Jackson, Prince, Elvis Presley and Keith Richards all telling me I am their idol and inspiration, I would have trouble to stay humble.
One of the HIGHLIGHTS of my 55 year old life is seeing Little Richard rehearse for a talk show in the late 90s. He was AMAZING! He performed as if he was singing to an audience of a million fans. I wish I had seen him in concert! May he rest In peace.
Little Richard was the best performer I have ever seen. I saw him in the 60s at Epstein's Saville theatre (an unknown Elton John was the warm-up act). He took the place apart. His 1964 TV show recorded in Britain (it's on RU-vid) is a must-watch for Richard fans. However, I also saw him at the rock'n'roll festival at Wembley Stadium in the early 70s where he did less well. He stood on the piano and did a kind of burlesque striptease which went on for ages. The audience was full of die-hard Richard fans who began to lose patience and started to boo. I could not believe it. He had more talent in his little finger than most other performers, yet he was throwing it away. I keep trying to purge that performance from my mind.
Those are fascinating memories, and thank you for sharing them. In the "rock and roll revival" of the early '70s, I think Little Richard and many of his '50s contemporaries were put on the spot a little. They themselves had changed personally, of course, and so they were not the young revolutionaries they used to be. And of course the times had changed dramatically. I think they were put in the difficult position of having to choose whether to present themselves as curio shoppe artifacts and mimic their greatest hits note for note (if they still could) or take a risk and express themselves as the persons and artists they had grown over the years to become. Rick Nelson's "Garden Party" famously tried to put words and music to the dichotomy they felt.

I remember the British rock 'n' roll singer, Marty Wilde saying that he had tried to move into more mainstream music as he grew older, but his audiences kept requesting his old hits,. One of them was his cover of Dion's 'Teenager in Love'. He felt absurd singing it in his advancing years but he realised he had no choice. He wasn't in a position to refuse. Some more successful singers have been in the position of being able to continually reinvent themselves and carry their audiences with them and, sometimes, attract new audiences. Bobby Darin, Neil Sedaka, Paul McCartney, Cliff Richard, Georgie Fame, Helen Shapiro, to name just a few, did it. Jerry Lee kind of did it with his increased country repertoire. Little Richard was, of course, still singing his brand of rock 'n' roll/gospel/soul and hadn't really moved far away from his original style. I think he would have found it difficult to move but, in any case, he had no need to. The camp, burlesque stuff had been always been hinted at with him, but he brought it into the main part of his act in later years, to his detriment, I felt. I will look up the lyrics of 'Garden Party'. Thanks for drawing it to my attention.
Thank God, I lived in his lifetime. It don't get any better. They all revered him? The Beatles, Mick, Jimi, James, Joe Tex, Bowie, 🤴 Prince. I have great respect for the architect of Rock & Roll. Even freaking ELVIS, wow-we. I can't say enough but Little Richard incorporated the entire package, there will NEVER be another! He was the real deal????
He said that Prince would never acknowledge him,though,and he felt a little hurt that Prince acted like that because Richard appreciated Prince's talents,especially his phenomenal guitar playing.Goes to show what a jerk and selective person,snobby type Prince could be.Little Richard always appreciated enthusiastically most of the great musicians out there,which is part of why we all loved him back.
@Debaditya Mistri Bill Haley was a Western Swing musician actually....not Swing. Elvis started in 1954. Little Richard started in 1947 singing R'n'R....a million miles away from his 1955 R'n'R. You are wrong on all three points. I was a friend of Bill Haley from 1954. I met Elvis in 1956 and was a friend of Little Richard for many years. I was a dj in the fifties........So, how old are you?
The true originator of rocknroll and such a great raconteur as well. He always seems such a lovely man. Virtually every rock artist right up to the hard rock and heavy metal bands owe something to this man.
This Guy has got like the best supergroup like there ever was in the 60s. Only if they were as famous at that time as they were later. Billy Preston, Jimi Hendrix and James Brown along with one of the creators of Rock n Roll in the same band.
The Beatles were right. Little Richard is the best. He was the real king of rock and roll. I don't care how he acts but I know he's an amazing performer, musician and innovator.
Little Richard was like a young loving child in a man's body , when he mentions all those musicians he has influenced his eyes light up , great American rock & roll legend for the ages and beyond !
Little Richard and Chuck Berry were and will always be the real kings of rock n roll, not to take anything from elvis because he will always be one of my heroes. But Richard and Chuck's music is the foundation of rock
I had an old truck, radio was broke, the old cassette player worked. Had one tape, Little Richard's Greatest hits. If that engine was running, Little Richard's voice was wailing. I think I know every word or every song on that tape. Including the wooooooo's.
Gentleness, intelligence, perspicacity, a playful sense of humor, an articulate and considerate conversationalist.....packaged together with a crate of dynamite talent and originality. He must have had many more impressions and stories about other contemporary artists he rubbed elbows with besides The Beatles. I'd like to hear them.
Mt wife and I have several hundreds of record albums. All kinds of music rock, punk, indie, rap, etc, but none of those records rock as much as my Little Richard records. If I want to get the house rocking, I love cranking his music
The Beatles were good singers and great song writers Little Richard was great at everything and he was also brave which the Beatles did not have to be.
The Beatles were FAR braver than Richard. They refused to play for segregated audiences, they openly criticized America for it's racism, criticized Christianity. And most of all pushed the envelope when it came to what pop/rock music had to say about life and existentialist angst itself. Little Richard was an obnoxious clown who sang Tutti Frutti.

The true King was Elvis. Little Richard is on record as saying that. Paul McCartney has also said that and many more. Those of us who actually lived through the 50's also knew that.
Little Richard called Elvis the KING. Chuck Berry called Elvis the KING and many other did too. I lived through the actual 50s and EVERYBODY regarded Elvis as the King, singers, musicians, songwriter, record-producers and most of all the fans. You know nothing as you were not around then and you listen to garbage on RU-vid and other platforms. You say he was the king of stealing....then it is up to you to show evidence of that.
