What a fascinating tidbit, that the real-life "Amy March" was the art teacher for the man who sculpted the famous Abe Lincoln statue!

If you liked her, it's not the world who sees her at that way. It's only few people. Maybe majority but not all of them. Also, I don't think that her sister wanted portrait her in evil way or people know her by the books. She was inspiration for the books but she was a real person and not a character. We don't know who she really was and we can't judge her

In the books, Amy was a bit self-important and rather spoiled. She threw a book Jo was working on since she was a kid into a fire just because they had a disagreement. In the Good Wives, her character wasn't even greatly improved, and maybe her and Teddy's relationship felt a little too forced. Maybe she wasn't really a bad character, it's just that it's hard for her character to gain its readers affection when a character so relatable like Jo exists, and someone so kind and saintly as Beth exist too

I adored Jo in the first book, but absolutely loved Amy in the second when I had grown up a bit more ( I never realized there was a sequel until eight years later ). Amy’s chapter in the second book really made her shine. Not to mention the good lessons she taught us in dealing with petty people and ‘friends’ but still keeping a smile on her face while remaining pleasant and kind. That’s why she really won me over.

I think I just didn't like Amy while reading because Laurie married her after being in love with Jo for 9 years and only 2 months after being rejected, he went for Amy and I was just crushed. To be honest, I could probably relate to her as an artist. I did like her with her personality. My favorite was Meg though. Ok hear me oht, the only reason i never liked amy is because she burned jos book. That cut so deep into my heart that i couldn't really forgive her. @milkberri
@milkberri 4 года назад
I agree where you’re coming from I thought Amy had also taken it too far burning Jo’s Book. However I then remember she was only a child and sometimes you don’t fully think through the consequences to your actions at that age nor know how to deal with anger/jealously in a mature, non destructive way.

@no.1garlicbreadenthusiast
@no.1garlicbreadenthusiast 4 года назад
@@angela7014 Yeah but she was a kid & angry + her & Jo's relationship was clearly the most complicated out of all the sisters (probably because they were actually quite similar deep down but had very different ways about going after what they wanted). Obviously Amy burning the book was wrong but one bad action as a kid shouldn't haunt someone for life (especially as no one was phyically harmed). As the baby of my family I can say that most families probably do some mean shit to eachother (despite loving eachother of course) while growing up. My sister's sometimes used our dad's lighter to melt/burn my toys, my brother used to hide my sister under the bed & call her a monster when she was first born, we've slapped/chocked/punched & pulled eachother's hair over the most stupid shit, we've switched from insulting eachother to ignoring eachother & back again for hours, we've stolen/hidden/runied & broke eachother's stuff on purpose for all sorts of reasons because we were kids & understanding/controlling your emotions is just not something most people are good at yet. When I started secondary school (so age 11) I used to scream horrible shit at my mum just because my hormones were going crazy so I was just stressed out 24/7 & once during an argument with my dad I remember I just got so mad that without thinking I picked up the first thing on hand, which was a bible, & tried to throw it at he's face (luckily I have terrible aim so it hit a cupboard instead). So I just don't get this grudge against Amy. I mean obviously if she'd burnt the book over something so small as an adult I would agree that she deserved worlds biggest bitch award but she didn't. Like kids (especially kids on the cusp/in the middle of puberty) are fucking feral & really don't need much reason to do some pretty bat shit stuff. Lastly it's not like Amy didn't suffer at all for what she'd done as Jo definitely would have beat her up worse if the others hadn't intervened, she then had to except the guilt over hurting her sister (which she did & that is actually pretty mature for a kid her age) & then she almost drowned in a frozen lake because her sister didn't want to talk/spend time with her after what she'd done.
@chrisshimizu308
@chrisshimizu308 3 года назад
Angela i think the fact that she knew what she was doing was wrong doesn’t super negate the fact that she was a child. not that children don’t know right from wrong, but children (especially teens) have such a hard time regulating their emotions. an adult who has learned how to regulate their emotions may go through multiple steps-i’m angry so i want to hurt my sister->she is writing a book so i want to burn this book->but this would really hurt her->that would ruin my relationship with her->is my anger appropriate for the situation? a child may only go through the first two steps before action. that doesn’t make what she did right at all, i just think it makes her human. i didn’t like amy at all at the beginning of the story (largely because of the book burning scene), but the main theme of the story is growth, and i definitely thought she grew up a lot. still a little self-centered, but much more tempered and able to express herself in productive ways.

I think what most people forget about Amy (2019 film) is that she is supposed to be a child (when we flashback). Children react childishly and rashly to situations, they aren’t thinking about the consequences and this is why Amy acted the way she did. I’m not saying this pardons her but i think it makes us understand her decisions better. Obviously you can still say you didn’t like her though but this is just food for thought.

Amy and Laurie's relationship did not develop until she was already abroad and was considering marrying some other man because he was financially stable although she was not in love with him! There was never a rivalry in love between Amy and Jo! Jo, although she had affection for Laurie, never accepted his proposal because she knew she and Laurie have strong personalities that will clash in the end if they get together.
