@@bluestormpony Yes you can. You can legally buy a house in most countries, and in the ones you can't you can legally own one and pay mortgage for it in most instances. If your parents die and you are the sole heir and your parents were a house owner you now own the house. Granted it's a bit of a legal gray area as such things are rather rare, especially if you do not have a legal guardian as most cases if you have a legal guardian you technically own it but have no control over it. As for government official, ignoring hereditary positions like royalty and entry level jobs, you can in most places run for a government position. Chances of getting voted in, or chosen for such a position however are rather low.
